1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Age pattern on: August 01, 2008 04:44:16 AM
I'm 43 and I'd wear it! I agree that your choice of fabric will help determine how old or young you will seem in this. Also consider which style of bodice and skirt will suit your age brackett, as opposed to that of a 20-something woman.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Extra Fabric between armpit/bust (Pics included) and making my own pattern? on: August 01, 2008 04:36:55 AM
I have that very same problem with sleeveless tops.

You can indeed put darts in before you finish off the armholes. Are your armholes to be finished with  bias tape, or a facing? If it will be a facing, you will have to make the same dart adjustment to the facing in order for it to fit into your adjusted armhole.

As for the neck line, hmmmm...... I don't think I've ever encountered that problem. But I think the gathering looks pretty cute! The only 2 things I can think of are a) the neck opening really is too wide for you, and you'll have to redraft your master pattern for future attempts, or b) its possible that changing the angle of your shoulder seam slightly will help that excess fabric lay flatter against your chest. Play around with it by pinning a bit and see what happens.

Good luck! The fabic color is very pretty with your skin tone! Smiley

I went to a school with a white gown tradition as well (classic black tuxes for the young men). The young ladies were presented with bouquets of red roses and the young men wore red roses in their lapels. Let me tell you, it made for a beautiful and very classy group photo!!

Your dress looks absolutely stunning on you! I can't believe it never occurred to me that the infinity dress could look this amazing in a long length. Enjoy graduation day!

If you're into a bit of vintage wear, you could always do an online search for vintage patterns.
www.rustyzipper.com is just one of the many sites out there.

You did a great job with the fit of your corset! I like the idea of contrasting ribbon too.

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Need a pattern for a Pilot Cap on: April 23, 2008 12:51:33 PM
Well...here's one, but not quite what I had in mind.  Huh

Directions for a medieval coif (very similar to a pilots cap):

I must be losing my mind. Where the heck did I see it? Aack!
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Need a pattern for a Pilot Cap on: April 23, 2008 12:26:53 PM
I could swear I've recently seen a pattern for a child-sized pilot's cap online. I will definitely look around and see if I bookmarked it!

Otherwise...many of the big four pattern companies have pilot caps as part of costume patterns! Maybe you can find something along those lines, and have a little head start on making a Halloween costume??

I'll keep lookin' though! Smiley
