14  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Help a new soap addict! on: February 21, 2005 03:58:44 PM
Hi Soapers!

Oooh i see it happening.!!!!!!!! I'm an ex- candlemaker (on hobby level) and now i feel the urge to get starting on soap making! Tongue
I'm trying to read all the site u guys recommended and it surely has endless info. However u lot are the experts so i shoot away.

I want to start with low cost, fun, "get me excited" soap making before i give out any serious money. Also noted that presently i live in Holland so pretty much everything has to be shipped over here which cost more than the things i would buy.

1.Is it possible to buy ordinary soap bars and melt them down? What are the better quality ones? Undecided
If i do that and add essential oils do i cover the soap smell? (i suppose i 'd need one which doesn't have astrong smell Embarrassed!

2. I read in one of the threads that u can use non toxic crayons to colour them. I used to do that with my candles and i was sooooo happy with that    because u didn't have to mess with it just chopped them up and melted them and u get an array of coloures too. It would be beutyful if it worked. BUT is it ok to have it on your face?  Undecided

3. For scents i'd use essential oils- not the cheap ones.

4. Can i use baking tins (teflon Tongue)? some posts says yes some advices against (what reasons i don't know).

Brrrrr. I can't wait hearing from U ALL! I have 1 week off work next week and i will float in bubbles!

Hopefully u can help. Thanks so much! Kiss

(I luv the internet-still amazes me) back in those candle making years i was so stranded just had to expriment (which is part of it) on my own.....
I love this forum! Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss
15  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / mozaik mirror on: February 21, 2005 01:21:02 PM

I made this mozaik mirror from 2cmx2cm tiles. I also used some mirror tiles in between so when the light hits the surface u get a cool sparkly effect.

16  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Cool chicks-baby blanket on: February 21, 2005 01:16:29 PM

I thought i share this blanket. I made it from fleece and felt. I used normal stiches around the chicks (eggs Undecided) to represent that the baby is not born yet Grin and also two prevent the two layers sliding on each other. I added som ribbon tags along the edges as it is supposed to calm babies fiddling with them. Huh

Let me know what u think!
