Those are fabulous! My best friend does some burlesque shows and is always on the look out for some new pasties. I might have to surprise her!
22  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Re: Cloth Diapers -- Which ones to make? on: February 04, 2007 08:08:31 PM
This is a little late, but I am so happy to have stumbled across this thread. Tivaclare, you've probably had your baby by now, congratulations! I'd love to hear how you made out making your diapers. My son is 21mths and I am planning on switching him to cloth. I have printed off the Mama Bird pattern, I think that will be the first one I try. When we have a second baby (next year or two) I am hoping we will fully cloth from the beginning and can reuse any I make now!

Thanks so much for all the tips shared here, I have found them very helpful!
23  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: DIY Cloth Pads Tutorial on: January 29, 2007 03:56:26 PM
Wow, it took me several days, but I managed to read all the pages of this thread! I was truly inspired, and really enjoyed the frank discussion of what is a very natural process women experience every month. I just bought a Diva Cup and really like it. But I still like to have a little back up 'just in case'. Plus I can spot for days, so figured making some pantyliners would be perfect. I have never sewed before and just got a new sewing machine, so this is my first project. Its not perfect, but I'm really happy with how it came out (sewing around curved edges is hard!!). I used this pattern http://shewhorunsintheforest.googlepages.com/ and flanellette. I've only made one so far, but can't wait to make more. I'm having a sewing morning tomorrow with a friend and can't wait to make more! Thank you to all the women who are so open about this, I had no idea until a couple weeks ago I had any other option (and I'm 30)!

Oops, I can't post pics yet, but here's the link to my blog where you can see it

25  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Crocheted dish towel toppers! on: January 22, 2007 12:29:20 PM
Thanks for the tut! I bought a whack of tea towels today, looking forward to getting started. One other quick question, how do you poke holes in the towel? Do you just do a little snip with scissors? Or it there a better way? Thanks!

I love those! My mom has a bunch that her mom made years ago, but they're awfully dingy now, I'd love to make her some new ones. If you do up a pattern or a tut, I'd love to try it out. My kitchen can use a few too, I'm always misplacing my towel when cooking/cleaning.
27  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: I'm So Proud! - Long Grey Wrap on: January 21, 2007 01:43:36 PM
Wow, that wrap is stunning! I've been waiting for a pattern to make as a gift for my best friend, and I think this is one she will love! Thank you for that link, your's looks so much nicer than the one pictured. Like another poster said, I would've passed by it.
28  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Cold Feet and 20 minutes of time.... Tutorial on: January 06, 2007 02:06:45 PM
Those are great! Now that I'm done with the pressures of all my Christmas projects, I've been looking for something else to do. And as my feet are freezing as I write this, I can't wait to get started!

This is one pattern I've really been wanting to start, and after seeing yours I'm really inspired now! I love the long sleeves and the border you added. You did a fabulous job!
30  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Fly trap ideas? on: May 31, 2006 10:00:32 PM
My husband, son and I just moved into a very old house on a farm. We get a ton of flies in the house, every time we open the front door, they all swarm in. The people who used to live here left up those ugly hanging fly paper traps, but I hate them! Nothing beats washing the dishes while staring at a strip of yellow tacky paper with dead or dying flies stuck all over it (can you feel my sarcasm?).

Does anyone have any ingenious ideas on how to trap these flies with something that looks nice? Or at least doesn't look like a fly trap? Thanks!
