This is a digital piece that I finished last night.  He was inspired by some legends that speak of a horse that is something else in disguise... something much more sinister.  I'm not assigning a name to him because there are many variations and many names, but just know, that he is not what he seems - but you might have come to that conclusion simply by the eerie ambiance and those creepy eyes.

You can just call him Bob.

And then this was my first mixed media piece.  The canvas was painted with oils on top of wax long ago and I just got around to finishing him recently by attaching the digitally painted mechanical bird, a stick from a tree in my front yard,  and hand made fabric flowers.  I want to call it something along the lines of: Why does the mechanical bird sing of... electric sheep... or something... I honestly haven't thought of anything clever.  I really have no idea.











btw I realize that trying to photograph art with a lens with a shallow depth of field is just stupid.  Sorry.  I should have just grabbed the point and shoot for these.

Here's an interesting gift idea for those who love tea:


I started out by sewing drawstring bags out of unbleached cotton, and decided to finally try my hand at free motion sewing while I was at it.  It turned out alright, though I hoped it would have looked neater.  There is definitely a learning curve in using a free motion sewing machine foot.

As a side note, the thread is all cotton as well, and the buttons are metal due to the heat involved in making tea. 



If it isn't obvious, the larger bag is for a whole pitcher of tea, while the smaller bags are meant for individual cups.



Then I made a box for the bags out of a tin of jasmine tea (my personal favorite), by gluing bits and pieces of text and high res images that I found via google.  While I do not advocate stealing other people's images for your work, I was in a rush and didn't have time to come up with some nifty images of my own (shame, shame).  However, this was strictly for personal use of the recipient, and no profit was made, so we're good right?





I really need to get a high heat glue gun.  That messy ribbon job couldn't have been avoided due to the impossible nature of hot glue that can't get hot enough to stay soft for more than a second or two

I had a lot of fun with this and plan on making lots more plushies in the near future.  I hope to post again soon

I felt bad that I never came back to answer some replies in this thread, so I'm bumping it with a couple new digital paintings.

This was mostly done for practice, trying to get the likeness correct.  If it isn't obvious, it's meant to be Grace Kelly.


This is meant for a larger piece that I'm making, mixed media style.  It's a little more sloppy than I like, but I really am short on time, so he's done.

I love craftster so much!  This place inspires me in so many ways, but I'm really bad about contributing, so I wanted to change that.  Today I'm sharing my digital works from this year so far.  I don't know how well digital paintings are received here because of a severe lack of time for browsing, but I hope you all enjoy them.

Hi there!  I'm kind of new here - though, I've been lurking for about a year or two - and this is the first project I'm posting here, so let me know if I screw something up.

My son is now eight months old but he still doesn't have his room completed (no time, plus we kind of just prefer to have him sleep in our room).  So I'm kind of leisurely making things that will go in his room once finished.  At any rate, this was my first completed project for the nighttime nature themed room we're planning.  I plan on hanging this over the changing table so that he might stay still when I try to change him... he's a touch wiggly.

















The stitches in the faces are a bit messy, but that's territory I'm completely unfamiliar with.  It was more of an exercise in trying something new.  This was my first time making anything of this sort.  Clothing is pretty much all I've ever sewn.  Overall I'm happy with it, and quite proud that my design actually worked out to almost exactly as I envisioned it.  Yay!

What do you think?  I never mind critiques so feel free to voice any opinions.
