13  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Total Newbie :) Help please? on: December 17, 2010 03:53:27 PM
Me and all my cousins are each crocheting squares
that we're connecting into a huge blanket for our grandma.
My stitches are finally looking better, but I have a question about the pattern...

Starting Chain: chain 24.
Row 1: single crochet in each chain across
Row 2: chain 1 (to turn), single crochet in across the row.
Row 3: chain 1 (to turn), single crochet in across the row.
Row 4: chain 3 (counts as first double crochet), double crochet in each of next 7 single crochet stitches, chain-1, double crochet in next single crochet stitch and repeat 2 more times, double crochet in each of next 8 single crochet stitches.

SO, row 4 is my issue.
I'm guessing that when I chain inbetween the dc's, I would skip one of the single crochet stitches,
so it's sorta hanging mid air and makes a decorative hole?
But even so, wouldn't that be too few stitches to fill up the whole row?
7 dcs (8 if u count the chain 3), chain, dc, chain, dc, chain, dc, 8 dc = 22, and I have 24...
what am I missing!

Thanks so much for any guidance y'all can give me  Grin
14  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Doctor Who Swap Round 4 SENDOUTS 12-17-10!!! on: December 16, 2010 09:51:14 PM
I finally packaged my goodies up.
I'd hoped to get a chance to make one more thing, but alas...
The holidays. They are already stressing me out.
All our cousins are crocheting squares which we're connecting into a big blanket for our grandma.
Thing is, I don't know how to crochet.
And I was supposed to have my 4 squares done yesterday.
And my sister took off without doing hers so I think I have to pick up the slack.
8 squares, ASAP. Craftster tutorials to the rescue? Let's hope...
Siiiiiigh.

Damn! I totally missed that TeeFury shirt. It was all kinds of awesome. Grr

I ordered a shirt (Dr. Who related, of course) from Ript 2 weeks ago and they haven't even shipped yet Sad I don't know why I even bothered with 2 day shipping. There will probably be a new doctor by the time it arrives. Cry

I JUST got my RIPT shirt - the TARDIS that says "Did I mention it travels in time?"
The colors are a bit more bright than I had thought,
and I had to stand forever holding it up for my parents to attempt to decipher what it said.
Ahahaha. Oh well.

Just read about your aunt! My condolences to you and your family Sad

Sure, I'm alright with an extension!
I'm experimenting with some things I haven't done before,
so it'd be nice to know that if things go awry
I won't totally be screwed Wink

I was doing so well! And then things got crazy I'm falling behind. Hopefully I'll manage to rush to the finish, but I might be knitting every second of the day to do it.
