Felt gets all pilly when it rubs against stuff, and it's a nightmare when you wash it with other stuff (in a washing machine).  You can pick the pills off.

That said, I use it a lot.  I usually wash it in hot water before I sew it to something else, though.  You never know how it's going to react, and I'd rather have it shrink down before I sew it on than afterwards.

Are you talking about the ruffle part?  

If I were trying to make this, I'd fold in the pleats and pin them with a million pins.  I'd iron them down hard before I tried to sew over them.  And I'd invest in a couple of extra heavy-duty needles because I know I'd break some.

Xanthia, if you knit in the round, changing colors is easy.  You don't have to twist the threads around in the back or anything.  Give it a try some time.  You'll be surprised how easy it is.

Two separate projects, one post.

The first is a hat I just finished.  The yarn was scraps from other projects.





The second is a scarf knit from Bernat eyelash.  It's very soft, a little shiny in the sun, and I just love the colors.  Tastes great, too.

That's gorgeous!

What type of interfacing did you use?  Was it heavyweight?  I'm pretty clueless when it comes to interfacing.

I don't have any instructions for you, but I have to tell you that I liked those pants so much I dreamed about them last night!

I didn't dream their correct construction, though --  I dreamed I was trying to put some on and there was only a front and no back.
