11  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / 4th of July Shirt on: July 04, 2012 02:24:05 PM

My daughter's made 4th of July shirts this afternoon.  This is one of them. The other is drying so I will post it later.
We got the tutorial from Ten kids and a dog http://tenkidsandadog.blogspot.com/2008/07/4th-of-july-t-shirts-2008.html My daughter really likes it.  She wanted to weave t-shirt material between the blue and red. We are still thinking about doing that.

12  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Reconstructed Superman T-shirt on: May 27, 2012 12:41:59 PM
I reconstructed this superman t-shirt my daughter who had gotten paint on the sleeve. I thought it turned out cute. She was less than enthusiastic. :O)

13  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Help With Bloody Nurse Costume on: October 13, 2011 01:00:51 PM
I need help with a bloody nurse costume for my daughter.  We bought white scrubs.  What is the best way to bloody them up?  Red paint or does someone else have a better method?

Thanks! :O
14  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Anyone make string dolls? on: June 30, 2011 07:35:15 AM
Hi Everyone,

I am learning how to make string dolls.
I am pretty good at the body and head.
I want to make a ninja one for my daughter but am having a hard time wrapping the head for the hood part. I used black hemp for the outfit but the hood slips alot.
This is my second attempt. I used a lot of glue the first time it showed and looked a little sloppy.
Also, what is your favorite string to use? I have tried embroider floss, hemp (didn't care for) and just twine (love but it doesn't come in colors). I have read crochet thread is nice?
I have an eye question too. What size beads? How to I get them to set inside the string? I was thinking of tweezer to open up a space to place them in.

Thanks ahead of time!
15  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Help With Ponytails Please on: November 11, 2010 06:09:25 AM
Okay. So my teenage daughter is not into her hair at all.  I was never a ponytail gal.  Can someone tell me how to get a nice smooth ponytail?  What brush - styling product - bands?  She has medium thickness of hair, is a dark blonde and her hair has a slight wave.  My avatar photo is very old.  She is 14 now.

Thanks! :O)
16  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Civil War Nurse Costume Reconstruction on: January 31, 2010 10:22:33 AM
My 13 year old Daughter gave me one days notice to come up with a Civil War Nurse costume for her social studies class.  This is what we came up with.  The bottom is a white, denim skirt.  It had some nice embroidery on the bottom.  I cut it off for another project and hemmed it up.  It's a drawstring skirt so we put the drawstring in the back so it looked more like an apron.  The bodice part of the apron is the corner of a pillow case we fused the red cross on.  The floppy nursed hat is the other corner of the pillow case we turne up for a brim, hemmed the bottom and rounded off the corner.  We found the ditsy floral print dress at a thrift store.  I thought it turned out pretty cute!

17  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Sprout Necklace on: January 22, 2010 11:20:46 AM
Our Girl Scout troop made these sprout necklaces for a try it patch a few weeks ago.
I got the idea from Family Fun magazine.  Purchased the containers from Hobby Lobby and put an eyescrew in the lid.  The lace is the rubber stuff.  The girls put two damp cotton balls in the bottom and two lima beans.  It took a few weeks for them to sprout like this.

18  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Flutter the Sock Monkey on: December 23, 2009 09:53:16 AM
I made this sock monkey for a four year old neighbor girl for Christmas.
I wanted to make it more like a play toy.  The cloths are removable, the wings and hat also.  I posted a photo on my facebook page and got a request to make one for my friend's Daughter's birthday.  I would love to dye the sock part this time and purple or some similar color.  Might do that.
