32  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Help With Ponytails Please on: November 11, 2010 06:09:25 AM
Okay. So my teenage daughter is not into her hair at all.  I was never a ponytail gal.  Can someone tell me how to get a nice smooth ponytail?  What brush - styling product - bands?  She has medium thickness of hair, is a dark blonde and her hair has a slight wave.  My avatar photo is very old.  She is 14 now.

Thanks! :O)
33  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Civil War Nurse Costume Reconstruction on: January 31, 2010 10:22:33 AM
My 13 year old Daughter gave me one days notice to come up with a Civil War Nurse costume for her social studies class.  This is what we came up with.  The bottom is a white, denim skirt.  It had some nice embroidery on the bottom.  I cut it off for another project and hemmed it up.  It's a drawstring skirt so we put the drawstring in the back so it looked more like an apron.  The bodice part of the apron is the corner of a pillow case we fused the red cross on.  The floppy nursed hat is the other corner of the pillow case we turne up for a brim, hemmed the bottom and rounded off the corner.  We found the ditsy floral print dress at a thrift store.  I thought it turned out pretty cute!

34  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Sprout Necklace on: January 22, 2010 11:20:46 AM
Our Girl Scout troop made these sprout necklaces for a try it patch a few weeks ago.
I got the idea from Family Fun magazine.  Purchased the containers from Hobby Lobby and put an eyescrew in the lid.  The lace is the rubber stuff.  The girls put two damp cotton balls in the bottom and two lima beans.  It took a few weeks for them to sprout like this.

This is so cool.  My 13 year old daughter would go crazy for it!  She is so into the human body.

Nice work!

If you ever do a pattern for it I would be in line to buy one! :O)

I absolutely love this sock monkey.  I have been making sock monkeys forever.
I was wondering, what do you use to dye your socks?  She is just fantastic!
