121  Re: Ongoing ATC Swap November 2010 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by mandykaye on: December 03, 2010 04:34:16 AM
I received these two amazing ATCs from susanab yesterday!!

A "Detroit Tigers" one that says it all lol! And a zentangle for "Artist's Choice"! This was her first zentangle and I think it is awesome! I wouldn't even know how to begin one of those! The light pink at the bottom is actually a bright orange but my scanner doesnt register that color for some reason! Wink(Now I think I will add zentangles to my list  Cheesy) Thanks so much susanab!!!

I received a couple of really great ATC's the other day.....

First up is this Detroit Tigers ATC! It's the "Best Seasons"! (this actually makes the team look a little pathetic but I'm a true fan through thick and thin LOL! Wink

Next is this "Artist's Choice" ATC from nightlite. It goes with my horse-beings theme! This is really neat! It looks sewn either really steadily by hand or a machine! Very cool!

Thanks ladies! They are great additions to my growing collection!  Cheesy

128  Redecorated Suitcase!!! in Completed Projects by mandykaye on: October 04, 2010 06:47:01 AM
I have had this old plain brown beat up suitcase for quite some time that I couldn't bear to throw away! I've seen some great suitcases redone on here and became inspired!!! Unfortuneatly i didn't take a "before" photo (slaps self on head)! But it was just a plain brown suitcase with a green stiped interior.

I washed the outside of the suitcase and applied a layer of torn newspaper using Modge Podge. Then I found some Asian inspired photos from some magazines for a tranquil inspiration and Modge Podged those on top. Then I decorated with some glitter, buttons, and charms. I Used some acrylic paint and stamps to finish up! I applied some ribbon trim with hot glue around the top and bottom of the suitcase.
I also glued a strip of ribbon to the inside of the top to serve as a pull tap to help lift the top when closed. The old leather handle had broken so I replaced it with some silky braided rope.

Then I reinforced the hinges on the inside with some ribbon as well. I replaced the bootom liner of the suitcase with a few hand-sewn silk-like quilt sqaures and hot glued the liner into place and trimmed it out with ribbon as well. the top pocket was still in good shape so I left it!

I liked how it turned out and was thinking of giving it as a Christmas gift with little candles and scented oils and other meditation items wrapped inside. What do you think? I am not so sure now...... Thank you for looking and sharing your insights!

129  New ATCs :updated pics! in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by mandykaye on: October 04, 2010 06:28:23 AM
Hello all! I have recently become addicted to ATC's! These are the ones i will be submitting to the Richmond Art Gallery ATC Exhibtion for 2010!

These ones are also made on card stock with acrylic paint, paper cut-outs, and stamps with a coat of sealent.(unfortunately the scanner doesn't pick up florescent color as the bottom has a florescent yellow background)

These ones are on a card stock base with a paper background and acrylic paint with stamps.

I like how this koi stamp turned out..

This one features a sticker from Guitar Hero!

Thanks for looking!!!

130  Altered puzzle in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by mandykaye on: September 27, 2010 02:48:35 PM
First project posted!! Also the first altered puzzle I've done! This was all done with acrylic paint and some stickers and sequins. I used a sharpie marker to do some lettering and outlining. I first put the 100 pc puzzle together then wrote numbers on the front of the pieces. Then I turned them over and just ramdomly painted each piece. I chose some random designs and things that were very personla to my family such as schools, favorite foods, beverages, hobbies etc. It sort of turned into a little autobiography of our family life LOL! when it was finished, I turned the pieces back over and put the puzzle back together then flipped it and it was like a little surprise tio myself to see how it turned out!  I pasted onto a thick piece of poster board and clear-coated the top with some sealent! I love how it turned out! Some of the details and glitter didn't show on the scanned image but the colors are pretty close!

Thanks for checking it out!
