11  Re: FIBER FRIDAY! 1/5/07 in Spinning: Completed Projects by tenrec on: January 05, 2007 02:59:19 PM
Hooray for Fiber Friday!  Everyone's contributions are so pretty!

Here's my one skein for this week... hopefully there will be more soon as the holiday crafting ends and I can start being selfish again Smiley

It's 50% merino 50% tussah silk, dyed by Fleece Artist.  It's spun as loosely as I could manage in order to make it soft and fluffy - check out the halo!  The colors remind me of a kelp forest.

I just realized that I never posted the great gift I received for Day 1!  I guess it got overlooked in the holiday shuffle...  Sorry wax51!

On the first day of Crafter-mas, my super swap partner gave to meeeeeee:

A fabulous centerpiece for my holiday table!

It goes perfectly with the placemats (Day 4) and napkins and napkin rings (Day Cool, plus my table cloth and table runner/quilted centerpiece that my mom made me...  Here's my holiday table all decked out!

Thanks again wax51!  This was truly the best swap ever!!!!

A bit more catching up to do...

On Day 4, I received four gorgeous placemats that match the napkins and napkin rings from Day 8 (what a coincidence LOL!) and also match my table cloth!

On Day 3, I got fuses!

OK, I didn't get fuses.  But in the fuse box, I got an adorable jewelry set with cats - necklace and earrings.

And on Day 2, I received 2 great iris folding books!!!  Yippee!!!  I actually have very few iris folding patterns - I've made up a few, and winged some, but this is really awesome!

Now I can make tons more cards, hooray!!!!  Thanks - I love everything.  I'm so sad there is only one day left!!  Cry

So Day 9 and Day 7...

When I opened Day 9, there was a note that said "Here are 9 elements of your Mystery Kit.  I wonder what it is..."  Here are the 9 things I found:

There are dust masks, flat nosed pliers, sand paper, a mini vice (!), brushes, paper, stickers, jumprings and markers.  What on earth could it be?  I truly had no idea... until I opened Day 7.

Which says "Day 7; 7 Pieces - 2nd half of your very own _____ kit" with a note inside that said "It's a (flip to read)."

When I flipped, I found out that it was a:

Microscope Slide Pendant Kit!

Here are the 7 things:

Slides, soldering iron, sandpaper (rougher), solder, steel wool, fake tape, and the stand for the soldering iron.

I can't wait to play and make some pendants!!!  (just as soon as the holidays are over!)
THANKS!!!!

Wax51 has been spoiling me, and I've been totally remiss for not posting the photos of all the great stuff... but here goes:

Day 9 and Day 7 go together, and I'll do that in the next post...

Day 8 was 4 gorgeous napkins and napkin rings, plus candy canes:

They look great with my holiday table cloth (the green it's on top of) and placemats!  I love them...

Day 6 was 6 kinds of candy!  There are only 5 in this picture because the other one has already been absorbed into the house somewhere... oopsie.

And Day 5 were 5 awesome vintage knitting books!

My favorite is the one on the right - the Knit Kit, which has a deck of patterns, plus a book with ideas and tips for designing your own sweaters.  Here's my favorite pattern of the bunch:

I love it all!!!  Day 7 and 9 coming up...

yehaw, flickr is back up...

On the 11th day of Craftstermas, my partner gave to me:

11 Ocean-Themed Presents!
There are some great coasters and nightlights, stuffed toys, cute jewelry (made from erasers?) and stitch markers!

And on the 10th day of Craftstermas, my partner gave to me:

A gigantic stocking filled with tons of goodies!  Some for me, some for DH, and some for the kitties...  Including more sushi-themed stitch markers!  Yippee!!

Dan and I love everything, but the cat toys were truly a hit:

Linus chooses his toy from the buffet Smiley

Way more photos on in my Flickr set...

Is anyone else using flickr?  Any interest in setting up a group pool for this swap?

19  Re: Christmas Music CD Swap Round 2 - gallery in The Swap Gallery by tenrec on: November 24, 2006 02:25:24 PM
Karls_mommy received my CDs, hooray!  I haven't gotten hers yet, but they're probably waiting for me at home.

Here's what I sent her:

Two CDs - Holiday Traditions and Holiday Novelties.  Unfortunately, the playlists are on my other computer, but I'll post them as soon as I can... if karls_mommy doesn't want to type all of them!  The idea was that the Holiday Traditions had songs that you would consider "traditional" carols - songs that I figured she probably already knew, although some of the versions were different interpretations.  Holiday Novelties were other songs from my collection that aren't traditional, but that I like very much!

The CDs were in a tin that I left fairly blank, so that she could re-gift it if she wanted.  And my ornament/craft was a needlefelted tree - my first stab at needlefelting (hah! so funny!) and I think it came out pretty good!  And to give credit where it's due, I was totally inspired by this post.

I hope she likes the music!

And here are the goodies that I received from koi:

An Italian knitting pattern book, two pairs of earrings - one has cloissonne beads, one has felt beads - and an awesome purple fur monster bag!  My cat Cleo (the innocent looking one up above) tried to attack and eat my monster bag - probably thinking it was one of her mouse toys.  She didn't get to sneak into this photo Smiley and monster bag now lives on a high hook, away from predatory kitties!  Grin
