1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Wanting to make some semi-miniatures for a friend... PIRATE STUFF on: July 05, 2006 04:10:42 PM
A friend of mine is obsessed with Muppets and Pirates. In general he's obsessed with getting ANY sort of small items that are properly scaled for his Muppet figures, but currently he's in dire need of pirate stuff to scale. I'm not sure of the exact scale, but they are about the height of any action figure toy. Not as big as the spawn figures, but not as tiny as a G.I. Joe, y'know? lol... Anyway, I'm wanting to make a treasure chest, for one, and fill it with "gold coins", and I'm ... well, whatever else would be good. LoL, I need to sit down and go through some pirate sites and figure out what all else I can make.

The treasure chest is what has me really stumped. I don't know what I shold make it from, nor how to go about it really. Currently my only thought is cutting up a cereal box, duct taping, affixing lil wood appliques of the proper size and shape, then painting over it to look like wood. However, if anyone has a better idea, I'd like to hear it. The "gold coins"... I'm thinking of checking the craft store for gold sequins. I figure that would be close enough, and I can use tiny "pearl" seed beads and "gold" seed beads to make lil necklaces to go in there as well.

The pirate flag will be from the left-over fabric from a black tee I'm planning to re-con, and I'm going to use bleach on a pointy-cottonswab to put in the skull and crossbones.

Anyway, I got a LOT of cleaning to do in my room today. I just want to hear some feedback and have some help with brainstorming. ^___^ It'd be cool too if anyone else wanted to give this stuff a try. It's fun to do for that whole "talk like a pirate day".
2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / What will stimulate hair growth? on: February 28, 2005 11:45:40 PM
Sad I'm taking a daily regimine of 2 depakote and 4 dilantin daily, and the depakote has this "fun" side effect of causing my hair to fall out. It wasn't too noticible at first, but now my hair has thinned out so much that it is quite a bit noticeable. I was wondering if there's anything I could do to stimulate the growth to help counteract the damage done by my medicine. Affordable recipes too, because I'm ever so poor. Sad If I had money I'd request they switch me to a better pill with less f'd up side effects.
