also, i finally got a clay extruder and am having a ton of fun playing with that.  now to get a pasta machine...

oh hey y'all! sorry for not linking the shop!!  My own etsy store doesn't link to it either, I gotta fix that! these (and other!) wands can be found at (drumroll...)

I have used a shorter wand along with a black chopstick for hairsticks and it worked great!  some handles are heavier than others, and I think for thicker or thinner hair we could totally make some that would work. 

As for getting the clay to stick, we haven't really had much trouble with it, but I really appreciate all the tips!  I've been poring over the other threads to learn new techniques and tricks since i'm kinda new to polymer clay altogether.  you guys are awesome!

@Diane: Thanks!  The clay sticks right to the dowels 95% of the time on its own.  If the handle slides off after baking, i just glue them with E6000.
