1  Re: Ongoing ATC Swap--March 2011--Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Dyani on: March 24, 2011 01:20:04 AM
I received a couple of fantastic cards this last week, sorry I'm so late to post them.

MandyKaye sent an incredible hand painted birch tree forest. The sunset colors are really pretty.

and Graciepop did my Tom Sawyers Island theme. What an awesome map! The edges are burned and the card has an aged look  that makes it feel like I'm handling an antique.

The writing says "work consists of all the things a body is obligated to do; play consists of all the things a body is not obligated to do."

Thank you both so much!

2  Re: $4.95 Swap AKA Fill a SMALL Flat Rate Box R3 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by Dyani on: March 15, 2011 05:44:09 PM
I got home from a loooong day of work yesterday exhausted and, well, in a bit of a mood, only to find a beautiful little flat rate box sitting on my doorstep. My excitement mounted as I picked it up, could it be?  Yes, my package from TerraBella01!  There is nothing like awesome mail to brighten up your day Cheesy

She seriously spoiled me. to start off, SO MUCH PAPER!!! there were some cool rub on quotes as well, I thought I photographed them but maybe not.

Three fat quarters, rubber erasers for stamp carving, a bag of some sort of (natural twine?) string which I will certainly find a use for

And what appeared to be a small box held a treasure trove of beads and things

She also took the time to cut out cricut letters for a craft fair bunting banner I am making. I love the font!

and last but not least, a sweet handmade paper flower and adorable ATC.
I love the lot of it! Thank you SO MUCH Terrabella!

I got the most amazingly gorgeous ATC from WideEyedLife on the topic of one of my favorite things, High Heel Shoes! It features not only a beautifully rendered elegant shoe,  but also her own stream of consciousness prose from the point of view of a shoe shopper, that as an addict, made me giggle with recognition. It is proudly displayed in my shoe closet. Thanks!

I just received a beautiful Modern Architecture card from Mxer145. It's hand drawn and gorgeous.  What looks like gray in my scan is actually silver so it has a bit of shine. I love it! Now, to find a tiny frame.

7  Louise Brooks Pillow in Screen Printing: Completed Projects by Dyani on: January 22, 2011 08:04:08 PM
I got a YUDU for Christmas but still hadn't taken it out of the box after reading all the bad reviews online. I'm so glad I finally did; that thing is FUN.

I took a piece of  my very talented boyfriends artwork, featuring silver screen  goddess Louise Brooks, turned it into a simple black and white one, and screened it onto, well, too many things... But my favorite of those things is this flannel pillow I sewed this morning.

8  Black Swan Bunny in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Dyani on: January 17, 2011 08:23:36 PM
I've been making a ton of bunnies lately, so after seeing The Black Swan of course I had to have a Black swan bunny. She's made of upcycled cashmere, tulle, and a whole lot of glitter...

9  My First Baby Dress in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by Dyani on: January 17, 2011 08:01:08 PM
so I had a go at making a baby dress for an upcoming shower. I'm nowhere near the point of making my own clothing patterns yet, so I took a seam ripper to a stained old Gymboree dress and stole the pattern. Advice is welcome.

10  HIPSTAMATIC CANVAS FRAME (5 Min Project) in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Dyani on: January 17, 2011 07:46:38 PM
I'm almost embarrassed to post this here simply because it was such a ridiculously easy project. I have become somewhat obsessed with the Hipstamatic app on my iphone, and recently ordered a ton of prints as an in app purchase. They arrived like 2 days later and I was SO EXCITED, but being 4x4 inches my framing options were limited.

So, I took a 16" by 20" canvas (Michaels had them for like $4), and covered it in evenly spaced Velcro mini adhesive strips (itchy side on canvas, this is important) and put the soft side of the velcro on the back of my pictures.

Now I have a constantly adjustable frame that I can change up the pictures on whenever the mood strikes or new prints arrive, no cutting required as it was perfectly sized already.

Just be sure to put the soft side of the velcro on your pictures to avoid damage when stored.
