3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / website/business name on: March 31, 2005 09:26:38 PM
Hi there. I have been making some jewelry either from vintage pieces or vintage inspired pieces and want to try and post them on a website (i have done some web design in the past, so it would be all on me). I have been tossing around the name "found*melie" because i literally use so many found vintage beads/parts, but also in expressing my craftiness i feel like a different part of me is coming out. I worked for a jewelry designer who said that her reps wanted a woman's name, that it was more marketable. so i thought that i would morph my name, melissa, a bit.

what do you think? is it too hokey? i came up with some other names (not related to my name, totally different) but all the url's are claimed.

thanks for any and all input!
4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: Why your website should have content on: March 14, 2005 07:38:18 PM
ok, first i have to say that i stumbled across your advise on another thread and your advise jsut blew me away. i honestly never thought i'd get this kind of advise on a craft website.

i'm really trying to wrap my head around this (so excuse me for being totally thick here) BUT i really don't understand these articles. for example, this link that you gave: http://www.collargirl.com/chiwawa_collars.html
who links to that page? or who ever sees that page? just the search spiders? or if i poked around your website on my own would i naturally find this page?

i know you have been so helpful and informative in your answers, like i said, i'm just missing something here.

btw, all of your links for optimizing was sooo good i am posting the link here for everyone else to go to:

they are really great! i paint a lot of metal things i make, so i'm all for the metal paint. maybe look for another set on ebay? all the new ones that you buy in kits look too generic

7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Ikea bookcase into sideboard? on: February 26, 2005 08:04:55 AM
hairpin legs would look cool on the bookcase if it isn't too bulky looking, otherwise i'd go with a "sturdier" looking leg. i love the idea of dressing up ikea furniture!
