Are you using 6 strand dmc embroidery thread?  That almost looks like crewel.

about the x:  do you sew the x from end to end or do you allow an inch or so of sewing allowance?

Thanks, yeah that helps a lot.  Did you sew the individual square pieces together at the diagonal?

I'm just looking to make a simple one using flannel.  I've seen those log cabin ones.  I've got the pattern all figured out....what I need is just tips like should I sew the xs on the squares before or after i sew the squares together.  Or like, what's the easiest and best method of assemblies.  I'm planning to make a flannel quilt with 3 squares, for each square. with a fringe that I will cut. I just need some pointers before I begin.

Good morning, I did a cursory search on this site and on the web, but didn't really find what I was looking for.  I've cut the squares for a baby quilt (it'll be 3 squares thick of flannel) and I'm looking for advice as to how to assemble one (its my first).  What I'm looking for is direction as to how to sew the quilt, what's the proper seam width etc and any other tips.  If someone knows of where I can find a tutorial, that would be awesome.

I ended up just throwing the pix and explanation on my blog.  Thanks again "skitterflex."  This was a lot of fun.  Thanks too to Ghost girl for putting this together.
