We met on the high seas and after many fights decided that we worked well together. Captain Rackham proposed a merger of our forces, but me being a solo kind of gal it took a little convincing!



I began to realize the error of my ways ....



....and agreed to our merger.



Captain Rackham then revealed that he was also interested in a different sort of merger.

I made both captains' costumes from Simplicity patterns and found items. All of the jewelry you see was crafted by me except for the earrings and my coin belt. Captain Rackham's bandanna I embellished with bead strands. I am especially proud of his eyepatch which I made to look as though it were permanently attached to his eye socket. I added thumb tacks (no I didn't actually use them to attach it!) for decor and used garmet tape to adhere it.



My dress was made from some super awesome VINTAGE 70's knit fabric I found at a yardsale that begged to be used for something totally cool. Though the sewing wasn't that intense it took several weeks to put it all together. I hope you like it!

Since it is spring and my daughter has outgrown everything from last year I have been busy making her a new spring wardrobe. This is only one of many, but so far is one of her favorites. Since she has pretty good taste in what works for her I figured I would post this one. It is an overall pattern from McCalls #4756. It is shown as a boy's pattern, but overalls look adorable for ANY little kid. The fabric was from my stash, I have no idea when or where I got it, but it is covered in bugs and snails. The overalls are fastened with frog buttons which I think she likes best of all. The pattern did not originally call for a pocket, but after trying it on her once she politely requested I add one. Not being one to turn down such a nice and sensible request I added a contrasting pocket.

This is my new favorite skirt. It is an 8 gore wrap skirt (ends up being a bit more than a full circle) fastened with vintage buttons. The buttons and buttonholes also serve as decor on the waistband since I don't technically need all those fasteners.

Oh my goodness!! I just noticed the "Craftster best of 2010 Award" , and I must say I am pleasantly surprised!! Thank to everyone who took the time to read my post for your kind words and positive responses!
