21  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Latest News / Re: 10/30/06 - NEWSFLASH!! More New Swap Rules!! on: November 01, 2006 02:03:20 PM
I've thought about that too, Bobolink, and I think it's a great idea, but I'm not sure how many others would get in on it. The Unconditional Swap was so darn popular; I'm afraid my new take on it would be rather unsuccessful. Besides that, I fear that I could not see it through because of stupid time commitments. How about we all quit school and our jobs and craft ALL the time? Ready, GO! Wink

I don't think this has been mentioned yet... What I really loved about the Unconditional Swaps (besides the unconditional part and the variety of crafting outlets) was the fact that you were limited to three wishes. To narrow down all the crafty things in the world that you'd like someone to make you to just three items, to me, seems like an enormous effort, and by doing so, you'd be asking for and getting something that you really, really wanted. That way, when I chose someone to craft for, I felt like it was more meaningful somehow, like they'd super-appreciate my craft because it was something that they've been forever wanting, so we both win! Does that make sense?

I know that the Ongoing Wish Swaps are similar, and I like getting involved in them, but with having so many wishes, it seems like people still craft for the easiest and fastest ones. :/ I guess there's no real way to pressure people into being a bit more thoughtful, but those were my musings anyhow. Oh and as a disclaimer, I'm not trying to generalize and say that everyone does this because I know that's not true, but there are indeed many who do.
23  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Ongoing Wish Swap 15 on: October 26, 2006 10:20:20 AM
My turn! I claim gerbilocity for a swap journal. This is my first claim, and I'm in Champaign, IL, USA. List in a second...

In order of preference...

1. Knitted gloves in a green to match Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick&Quick Color# Grass 131 (my scarf and hat are in this yarn)

2. Pullover hoodie... I'm cold! PM for measurements and such.

3. A schoolbag/tote/messenger bag -- I'm open to the style of bag, fabrics and colors in my Wists (I love corduroy).

4. Decorative papers

5. Bookmarks! I like beaded/ribbon ones.

6. Necklace (look to Wists for inspiration)

7. Pillowcases or small pillows (you can never have too many!)

I'll add more if needed...

I have the same problem... I'm looking to buy 11x17 paper, but I just don't know where to go. Any store/website recommendations?
26  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: PJ Pant & Accessory Swap Gallery! on: October 18, 2006 09:12:26 PM
Ah, much better pictures! I brought the sleep mask to school today for a nap in between classes, but I was too shy to wear it. But it will definitely stay in my schoolbag for those wonderful napping opportunities, and one day, someday soon, I will not care how silly I look lying unconscious on a couch in the middle of the student union with a sleep mask on, haha. Yippee; apparently I'm the first to receive! Unfortunately, I'm digi-less, so you'll just have to use your imaginations. I received a wonderful package from Chipper today. It included pj pants, a sleep mask, lavendar pillow scents, lavendar rice bags for my aches and pains, and organic chamomile tea--and they were all made from an olive green dot print that I adore, which I was able to scan and share. Smiley

Thanks Chipper!

I've been avoiding craftster because it looked so unorganized in my Brown theme, but I just changed it to the second (scroll down a bit) Classic YaBB SE Theme, and woohoo! Go look at this theme now! It's organized! And organized well! Yippee! I wish it didn't have that huge SMF logo, but I'll trade that (and the blah blue) for being able to find things easier. I'd love to see more themes in this direction... sometime... eventually... when everything else is up and running again.  Smiley
