So, it's been a little chilly this past week (40-50s), and I thought I'd knit myself up a hat and scarf for the winter. Too bad it was 65 and sunny today!

Cabled hat (this pattern)




The pattern calls for size 7 or 8 dpns, but I sadly didn't have any, so I used 10s instead. Which is why it's slightly larger than I'd like and not quite as tight as desired. But I'll wear it all winter anyhow.

And the scarf to match (which actually came first)


I really love cables. 

I'm so happy! Oneredboot claimed me for some pillowcovers to dress my nakie pillowforms, and she made me these beauties. I love them so so much. The colors, the fabrics, the stripes--I love it all.

They fit perfectly, nice and snug.


And they match my loveseat! How wonderful!

Yippee; apparently I'm the first to receive! Unfortunately, I'm digi-less, so you'll just have to use your imaginations. I received a wonderful package from Chipper today. It included pj pants, a sleep mask, lavendar pillow scents, lavendar rice bags for my aches and pains, and organic chamomile tea--and they were all made from an olive green dot print that I adore, which I was able to scan and share.

i'm so excited cuz i received from fadeawaydream today! i asked for an artist's journal and couldn't have received a better one.
i love the fabric and the paper and there's so many pages!! plenty of room for me to document my travels.

And, I have finally taken pictures of the absolutely stunning necklaces that Laughing Lark sent me. I could not gush about them enough, and my pictures do them no justice. I was too camera shy to take action shots (I wore the green necklace and earrings the next day with a perfectly matching dress), but here are some pictures nonetheless:

I've never painted anything before, and as much as I "research," nothing is quite simplified enough for me to understand. So, I come to you interior decorating experts for some help--I have these very cheap white bookshelves (I have no idea what they're made out of, but it's certainly not real wood), and I would like them to be another color.

Can I just paint right over them?
What kind of paint do I use?
Will the paint chip with all my books on there?
Do I need to put something on top of the paint to make it unchippable?

As you can see, I am utterly clueless when it comes to painting. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And here's a picture of what they kind of look like--it's not exact, but close enough.

Yippee! I received from ultraviolet today! My book was Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson. She sent two beautifully embroidered pillowcases, purple pie magnets, and watercolors+paper for me to paint my own adventures.







Sorry the pictures don't do the embroidery justice--it really is quite amazing.

I'm so glad you like it all, ultraviolet! I have more pics of the book because I loved it so much and wanted to keep it for myself (so I chose to take lots and lots of pics in hopes of preserving its memory, lol).

I received my crochet wish from missamorphosis today! I asked for something crocheted OR a learn to crochet kit, but because craftsters are the coolest people on the planet, she sent me both!  The crocheted items (more than one something!) are two coasters and a potholder--items that I've been begging for! They are beautiful--look at those colors! She also included a crochet hook and crochet instructions from various sites she found. Oh, and care instructions for the potholder and coasters on a pretty notecard! And everything came nicely wrapped in the glitter tissue paper in the background.    Thanks again, missamorphosis! I love it all!
