21  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Girls Houndstooth Bow Dress on: June 10, 2013 03:08:37 AM
This is lovely ! Did you make the skirt part from the circle skirt method ? =) I love these sweet waves, and the bow adds a nice touch of color. Good job !
22  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Fight Club mold and soap on: June 10, 2013 03:02:44 AM
Hello everyone

I promised a friend ages ago I'd make him a Fight Club soap, except that when I finally found the motivation, surprise ! The "mold" I found on the web wasn't actually a mold but an actual soap, I don't even know what happened in my head when I made the mistake. I searched for hours after that, only to find out that 20th Century Fox had made every homemade mold disappear from Etsy and similar websites.

So, I PROMISED. Too bad. Here is my DIY mold, and as you will see... that's a makeshift job. But it turned out not so bad, I hope you'll like it !

The sides aren't straight, it's a bit "shiny" because of the gelatin, but it could be worse =)

The logo has to be in embossed letters, so the mold is made in imprint.

12 layers of cardboard glued together. The cutter gave me blisters on my fingers -_- At first, I tried to cut into a thicker piece of cardboard, but I couldn't cut well the details and difficult parts, so I gave up.

gelatin + sugar

Makeshift job, I told you. This was a huge mess, I lost half of the batch... this was a BAD idea.

I can't wait to give my friend his gift, he seemed really excited when I showed him the pictures.
And if you guys have a better idea to make that kind of project, please oh please, tell me everything  Grin

Thanks for watching !

PS : English isn't my mothertongue and I used some specific words in this post, I hope I picked the right ones ! I'm sorry if you had trouble with some of my sentences, I do my best to get better  Wink
23  COOKING / Dessert / Re: The Cake of Thrones on: June 10, 2013 02:15:30 AM
Nice cake, and I love the "blood" =) Did you have any melting problem with the strawberry jam ? The fondant didn't really like liquids during my last attempt.
24  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Tufted Chippendale Settee reupholstered - Craziness galore! on: June 07, 2013 03:05:09 AM
You are really talented ! You can be very proud of yourself, I'd love to have this couch at home. This is much more beautiful than most of the furniture available in stores.
25  COOKING / Dessert / Toy Story birthday cake on: June 03, 2013 03:33:23 AM
My boyfriend beeing really clumsy at baking, I decided to make his son's birthday cake myself (poor kid, last year he had to eat a brioche with baking powder instead of baker's yeast, it was awful.)

So this was my very first attempt at sugar paste, and I think it turned out pretty well  Smiley It took me 10 hours to finish it (I must be the slowest girl on earth), starting from a pattern made on Illustrator. I think the cream I used was too damp because the icing started to melt before my guests arrive, but I managed to clean the mess. I hope my sweet stepson liked it ! (yup, the squawking was obviously more for the gifts than for the cake  Grin )

Thanks for looking !
