1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Yip Yip on: September 05, 2010 11:25:09 PM
Super hard to see in this costume...I need to replace the black fabric with something more sheer.

Costume was super slapped together in a few hours but it won a contest at work and was a lot of fun to run around yipping in!

Eyes - 2 Styrofoam balls..used black marker to draw on them
Antennae - Pipe cleaners twisted together + little silver balls I found at the craft store.

TONS of yards of blue crushed velvet fabric draped overmyself and I sewed in a circle of black fabric to be the mouth.  There is also a beanie hat sewn in the top in an attempt to keep it on my head.

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / First Reconstructs - T-shirt Skirts on: September 05, 2010 10:35:31 PM
So after spending what has to have been hours pouring over the wonderful talent in this community, I finally got off my keester and dusted off my sewing machine and gave it a shot!  (Note...even though I own a sewing machine, I've never really sewn anything)

These are plus-size, below the knee skirts.  Each one has 6 panels requiring 4 shirts for each one.  For the waistband on the green one, I took apart all of the sleeves and sewed them together and added a drawstring (It was way too big).  For the second one, I bought a small sized t-shirt and just cut off the bottom of the shirt and sewed it on.  That one took WAY less time!

The green one was initially going to be a Wicked (musical) themed skirt...but I found a black shirt with a fun image I liked.   The red and black one will match most of my work shirts Smiley

Thanks for looking Smiley I can't wait to try more complicated projects!  You all are so inspiring!
