So I wanted to put together a quilt for my father this Solstice/xmas/winter holiday, and was trying to find a block to go with. I've been collecting old silk shirts, and wanted it to mainly showcase the fabric (light and cool colours, mainly) and a bit of crazy stitching, but didnt want to go with just rows of squares. I know the less 'rows of squares' it is, the more complicated, and I did want to finish by mid december. Thats up to me, of course, much more than the block complexity, I suppose I mean i'm not going for a ton of seams, so the fabric can show itself off.
He's 52, lives in St. Pete, Florida, bohemian/hippie, proud of his Irish (and to a slightly lesser extent, British) heritage, reads a ton, and talks/converses, oddly enough, those are his main things. Im trying to give you a bit of an idea of him, since he doesnt really have hobbies/career to describe him; he's artsy, paints houses and pictures, fimo clay as well. Ive quilted before. Im sure he'd dig anything, so I suppose its more to satisfy me. Suggestions?
