I'm new to posting in Craftster, so please tell me (gently!) if I put something in the wrong place or make a mistake while I'm still learning
I just wanted to show my first needlefelting attempt, these little spider brooches/badges (I can't show images because I'm too new, so it's via links):
I make dreadlock extensions and falls using various colours of merino wool, but forming the wool into proper dready shapes means I have to cut off little whiskery bits of tips, or chop several inches off if one ends up too long. So I get a lot of uselessly tiny merino snippets, which I usually throw away, but I thought I'd try and reduce wastage by crafting them into something. Thus, the original green/black falls....

...and the spider made from the leftovers

I used discs of recycled Eco-Fi felt for the eyes (it was what I had lying around, 'cause my business is all green and recycley and stuff
) and some of the larger pieces of black wool for legs. It's taken me a while to figure out the design, because hot water felting just wasn't sticking the scraps together well enough. Then a friend at the Glasgow Craft Mafia showed me needlefelting, and...hey, it's kind of addictive, isn't it?
