1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / How could I make these dirty word necklaces? on: February 11, 2011 06:22:31 PM
I recently discovered these "dirty word" necklaces made by Under Oak Studios:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/underoakstudios?section_id=6519234 (some NSFW)

But I'm not sure I'd want to pay $40 for one, because they seem so easy to make. But I've never made jewelry, so I need some expert opinions. Do you guys think they'd be easy to make? It seems to me like it's just, bend some wire into the word, attach to a chain. Does that seem right? Also, could I get the supplies (wire, chains, and such) at a craft store like JoAnn?

Any help and opinions appreciated!

I love these! And I just realized that the custom plushie my friend got a few months ago was almost definitely made by you!

Where do you get your fur?
4  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Lots of recent projects (img heavy) [hats, amigurumi, plushie] on: December 08, 2010 11:32:02 AM
Haven't posted in a while, so here's some stuff I've done lately!

An earflap hat for my little brother. It's hard to tell, but it's black and bright bright lime green.

A green mesh-type skullcap, which unfortunately turned out a little too big

Off white earflap hat (my first project made without a pattern!) I wanted to add pompoms, but it didn't work out for me.

Black and white cat hat (also made without a pattern  Grin)

Mario mushrooms for my boyfriend, made with Wolfdreamer's pattern

Adipose baby amigurumi for my boyfriend. The pattern is from Ravelry.

Weird pigeontoed Snorlax for my boyfriend (Plushies are obviously not my strong point!) Also Wolfdreamer's pattern.

Snuggling his new Snorlax, also wearing a Chowder hat I made for him

Cat hat for my boyfriend's mom. I also made her a bear hat but forgot to take a picture.

Pattern: http://www.rheatheylia.com/index.php?page=patterns&id=5

I'm really determined to make this hat, 'cause I love cables and don't know how to knit anymore. But I'm already confused on round 3...
3. *fpdc in next 2 fpdcs, dc in space between the 2nd fpdc and the next* around: 42(48) stitches

It's supposed to be an increase round, but the way I'm doing it I'm getting no increases. I guess I'm confused by the dc part. Any help is appreciated! I neeeeed this hat!

8  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Progress report? list? on: November 01, 2010 08:15:17 AM
Since I have a very limited amount of yarn, I just make what I can with what I have and everything else has to wait until my dad decides to be awesome and take me to get more yarn Roll Eyes

I have two WIPs right now, but that's just because one of them has been a pain so I'm putting it off. I don't really like having more than one unless I get bored with one or get inspired to do something else.
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Eco-Friendly Bamboo Slouchy Hat! on: October 31, 2010 07:26:04 PM
Ooh I love it. I've felt how awesome bamboo yarn is, but it all seems like a small amount for more than I'm willing to pay (at least right now Tongue). What kind did you use?
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: How does this circle turn into a triangle? =/ on: October 31, 2010 07:22:02 PM
Yeah, that makes sense, and I bet you're right, 'cause that's how the ears on a plushie I'm making are. I never would have thought of that! Mine still won't look like the ones in the picture for some reason, but at least they look like cat ears! Thanks so much  Smiley
