1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Anthropologie Cirrus Bedding on: July 18, 2011 02:46:29 PM
Hello! Haven't seen a post for this so I thought I would ask. Smiley

I would love to make my own version of the Cirrus duvet cover from Anthropologie. It's made in a lightweight cotton jersey fabric and it has what looks like similarly-colored hem tape or trim across it. From my recollection, it was not stretchy where the trim was placed.

Please let me know if the link below does not work.

(There wouldn't be so many copycat requests for items if their stuff wasn't so frakking expensive!  Grin)

Does anyone know of a good gathering foot I could attach to my Brother sewing machine? Does anyone have any good tips for gathering? I'm thinking it would be better to not do this by hand, if possible. I'm not too great at the basting stitch method, but this project would sure give me some practice!
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / silky polka dot fabric on: April 27, 2008 08:52:50 AM
i was curious if anyone knew where to find some silky polka dot fabric? i love the large dot patterns but small would be ok, as well. Smiley
i've been searching specifically for black background with white dots and all i can find is cotton/quilting material with the polka dots on it.
tyia!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / berroco's dizzy on: March 09, 2008 10:29:32 AM
i'm working on berroco's dizzy and i can't seem to get my hat to look like the one on the mannequin on the site:
http://www.berroco.com/exclusives/dizzy/dizzy.html
nor the pretty ones on ravelry:
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/dizzy-2/people

the part of the pattern that's giving me the most trouble is as follows:
* K6, SSK, k2 tog, yo, k1, yo, rep from * until piece measures approximately 5 1/2 from beg.

my question is: if there are two yarn overs, won't that produce two holes along the swirl part of the hat? that's what happened when i attempted this recently... Smiley i went on to knittinghelp.com and i'm doing the decreases properly...

i don't get it. please help!  Roll Eyes
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / so confused! round baby blanket questions... on: June 12, 2007 08:11:20 PM
for the baby blanket here:
http://www.knitlist.com/00gift/round-baby-blanket.htm
it says:
Cast on 5 stitches, knit around. Place a marker to mark the beginning of the round.
Next round, make 1 stitch in each stitch (10 stitches).
Round 5: *k1, yo* around to marker. (20 stitches).

1. how do you "knit around"? is that just knitting the stitches that are there or is it something special?
2. how do you get 10 stitches in the next round if you start with 5 and only put 1 stitch in each stitch?
3. why does it go to round 5 after the first two directions?

help would be greatly appreciated! i'm just not comprehending very well! Smiley
thanks!
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / patons moonstone heather project on: December 27, 2006 10:25:45 AM
so i recently purchased some of patons' new rumor yarn in moonstone heather. it's quite a big purchase for me because i can't afford the really good stuff. i love the yarn and was pondering some things to do with it, preferring to do something garmet-related instead of accessory-related. i'm so excited, even though i don't know what to do with it. it's so soft... and i'm a sucker for texture. Smiley
has anyone made anything from this yarn?
any ideas?
i bought four skeins in the same dye lot and the yarn is a #5 Bulky, just for reference.

thanks in advance!
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / has anyone attempted a crochet/macrame porch swing? on: January 28, 2006 09:58:21 PM
the style i'm talking about looks like this:

i'm not sure what technique to use... and i crochet but i haven't ever macramed(sp?).
is it more trouble than it's worth? should i bypass the carpal tunnel and just buy one pre-made? just curious.  Cheesy
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / craftbelt? on: November 07, 2005 08:35:13 PM
has anyone ever attempted a craftbelt, aka a toolbelt for craft stuff?
most people probably just convert toolbelts but i'm considering making my own.
any advice for starting one? i'll let you know if i decide to whip one up over christmas break!  Grin

10  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / laughing cow spreadable cheese box on: July 28, 2005 07:40:48 PM
so i have a round laughing cow brand cheese wedge box and i can't help thinking that it would make a cool clutch/wallet or something. it's big enough for a license and money folded in half.
so maybe i should have put this in a "how the heck do i go about this?" thread... lol. duct tape? fabric? any ideas? Smiley
thanks!
