1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Disturbed French Pick-up Lines on: July 18, 2011 09:09:19 PM

My French friend is coming to live in the United States. She loves Disturbed, and even has this face tattooed on her ankle. I thought I would give it a shot and stitch it. And this the result. not half bad really if you consider the original: http://www.sonicexcess.com/disturbed-800x600.jpg

The text, "Salut...poupe." for you non-French speakers, is one of those pick-up lines meaning, "Hey doll" or even barbie. It's a running joke between me and her after some French guys taught me some lines last year when I was in Scotland.

So basically this is for her. Since she'll be living in another city and I'll only get to see her a few times this year, I figured it's a nice thing for her to use to decorate the walls in her new apartment!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Oscar Wilde Quote Cross-stitch on: July 18, 2011 08:58:00 PM

So this is one I made up for my friend. She asked for an Oscar Wilde quote, and this is the one I picked. She, like many people, is only human and I felt this would be a bit of comfort for her--knowing it's from me, and seeing the quote everyday. You can see I made a miscalculation in the spacing in "a past,"  but she loves me enough to not care haha.

I also wanted to try the dandelion stitch, this is inspired by a cross-stitch I saw online, but mostly from my own guesstimates. I felt they went together well-enough...

3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Tolkien Cross-stitch on: June 16, 2011 11:07:17 PM
This is the first cross-stitch I've done without an express guide. Made with rainbow thread and obviously a quote by Tolkien. I chose a block lettering, and my own spin on a leaf design I found. It's nothing elaborate, but fun times nonetheless.

A little about it:

I've been seeing this quote a lot lately and I just feel it applies to my life right now which, seems kind of aimless. That and I have a real desire to read/watch Lord of the Rings right now. Oddly enough it took me about 3-4 hours to do. The word "wander" actually took me the longest because it's twice the size of the other lettering. I'm working on another one for a friend right now quoting Oscar Wilde, and though it's twice as long, it's taken me only an hour or so longer. I don't know what other info to include so here it stands.
