1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Granny dress on: July 24, 2012 06:31:19 PM
Hey all, I came across this http://www.vintagewomensclothes.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/-30592806918729350.jpg online, and couldn't help but consider the idea of making one like it...

Any suggestions on yarn, I was thinking something lightweight (and also making the dress a bit shorter)

Also, it looks like the rows beneath the waist increase, while the ones above don't, I'll probably fool around and figure it out, but if anyone has any pointers on that they'd be appreciated!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / KALE! on: February 18, 2012 10:32:53 PM
Woo! I love kale, and I love embroidery! I've just recently started embroidering after several weeks of reading how-to's and thinking up ideas...

...this being one of them. This is in a small hoop, not sure the size exactly, but the kale leaf is just over an inch tall.

Hopefully going to frame it for the kitchen! Smiley
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Wonder Woman Things! on: November 13, 2011 02:00:58 PM
Previously I've crocheted my own Wonder Woman Halloween costume, and I had some red, blue, and yellow yarn left over, and I love Wonder Woman, so what better way to use that yarn than making Wonder Woman accessories?

I love the little lasso detail on the jar cozy

And the phone cozy that perfectly fit my old phone (which I lost ;_;) but is a little too big for my new one :/

Wonder Woman is just way too cool. Smiley
4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / So many hats!!! on: November 13, 2011 09:24:13 AM
I've been crocheting a whole mess of hats lately!

^this is one of my favorites of the group, it reminds me of the 20's

^this one is super slouchy, I like it a lot, and the color is soo bright!

^this is another of my favorites, the camera didn't really pick up the texture, but it's pretty neat!:)

Hope you enjoyed looking!
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Occupy Everywhere! on: November 11, 2011 01:47:02 PM
Hey y'all! I'm sure you've all seen at least something about OWS recently. I read something the other day that pointed out the hypocrisy of some Occupy protesters wearing Guy Fawkes masks (buying them gives money to the Time Warner Corporation, part of the 1% they are protesting). So I decided to crochet face covering instead. Also, it's getting cold out and I bet this would keep a protester's nose nice and cozy! Smiley

Just thought I'd share it on here.

6  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Crochet Wonder Woman on: October 31, 2011 05:25:32 PM
So I got this wacky idea to crochet my a Wonder Woman costume for Halloween this year. I think she's the coolest and I'm really happy with how it turned out!

I changed the underwear she usually has to a skirt and got rid of the stars because I didn't dig rockin' the red, white, and blue. The whole dress is crocheted along with the Lasso of Truth and a pocket for my phone (I mean, what kind of super hero doesn't have a phone pocket on their utility belt?  Grin )

The cuffs, emblem, and tiara are cut from felt and I painted the star on with acrylic paint. I sadly didn't get a picture of the lace-up back, but it was pretty neat. The only part of it I didn't make were the shoes, Wonder Woman Reebok's which my friend miraculously had! Cheesy

Unfortunately we got hit by a massive snowstorm followed by a power outage, so I didn't really get to go out, but the crocheting kept my torso warm while playing in the snow!

Here's a picture that better shows the true color and emblem! Smiley

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Jar Cozies on: September 18, 2011 04:45:42 PM
Hi guys! I've never posted in craftster before! But I'm a longtime lurker and crocheter, so I thought I'd share some things I've done lately!

I've been working on making a ton of jar cozies because all of my friends drink coffee from jars and if they don't have a nifty handle, you end up burning yourself! So, I started whipping these out and the problem was solved!

This is the bottom part of the jar cozy I just made my friend! It's supposed to look like a sunflower which is hard to capture in pictures...

This is the rest of it, I used front post double crochet to imply petals.

This one I used cotton yarn for and played with cabling and sections of fpdc... I like this one a lot because it's really big and fits on my tallest jars! Smiley

I like the color combo of this one, 50's mint stripe with cream and brown... it's also very fuzzy!

I have a few more in the works, they're really easy to make!
