2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Whats the point of Sl1s @ the start of a row? on: January 11, 2006 05:26:35 PM
Slipping the first stitch creates a smooth selvage edge.  The stitch has to stretch up to the next row, which makes it tighter.  I knit really loosely, and when doing stockinette  I usually slip the first stitch so the edges aren't all wonky.   Smiley

4  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Re: first felt beads please re-read on: November 03, 2005 05:12:15 PM
I needlefelt the beads into a rough sphere shape, then wet felt them with my hands.  I get a really dense, almost perfect ball this way.  I stick a pin through the center as they dry, or else it's hard to get wire through them later.  Hope this helps.
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: shrinky dinks tree necklace on: July 17, 2005 08:24:23 PM
That's cool!  To press shrinky dinks, I use a piece of wood with parchment paper stapled to it.... works perfectly.

Ok, so I haven't made them into bracelets yet, but I'm really excited!  I'm also going to make dangle earrings with face/boob combos.
