Best fairy costume ever... this looks like the fairies I think of.. not the garish neon things.

26  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Jewelry Displays on: August 17, 2010 08:11:25 PM
I was shopping for jewelry displays since I have a booth in the upcoming Festival of Cultures in Nashville.  All of them were so expensive!  Being the frugal freak I am that doesn't throw anything away, I made my own.

1. Burgundy bracelet pillow.  Toilet paper roll wrapped in velvet and padding taken from a reclaimed Christmas stocking.  I wrapped it and tucked in the ends, stuffed in some fast food napkins, pinched the ends together and tacked them shut with needle and thread.

2. Earring holder.  Discarded wire hanger from the cleaners twisted with pliers and wrapped in discarded white ribbon.

3. A shoe I got at goodwill (I wore the pair to an 80's themed party).  I filled the bottom of the shoe with two walmart bags, put a piece of cardboard (cut from a soda box) on top of them with some duct tape rolled sticky side out.  Then I lined up packing peanuts and stuck them down.  It will hold rings, earrings, broaches, and other small jewelry.

27  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Gothic Coffin Sunglasses Case on: August 17, 2010 08:00:54 PM
I found a pattern for this on a craft blog and just had to make my own!

I haven't posted 10 times yet, so only a link.  I used two cardboard coffin shapes (cut from a discarded soda box), discarded velvet, discarded pink cotton (inside lining), white and red glitter nailpolish, duct tape, and super glue.

That's a great idea.  I am a Nashville artist, but I dont have any guitar playing friends.  I'd hate to waste new guitar strings though.  Does your store have extra broken ones?  I'd be willing to pay a few bucks for them for  your trouble.

Great eco-craft!
