1  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Latest News / Re: 01/23/12 - Craftster Best of 2011 announced! on: January 25, 2012 10:14:55 AM
Whoa, what!  Thanks guys!  And thanks weaving for being such an obscure craft hahaha

I gotta say, I think my favorite "best ofs" are the shoes.  I am drooling all over them

I made these last year, but yours came out a squillion times better than mine!  They look great!

I wore my Time Turner to a party yesterday and it got recognized almost immediately.  So much for subtlety haha

I love the necklace! I like how you can tell what it is if your a fan, but if you aren't... you wouldn't have a clue.

These are my favorite kinds of things!  I am a huge Disney fan, so I try to wear as much Disney paraphernalia as possible without having anyone realize haha.  At my height I was wearing a gold Mickey watch that no one ever realized was Mickey despite the fact that it was a chain of Mickey heads as the band, a replica of Belle's necklace from the Broadway show, and children's flats that had a Mickey print that, again, no one ever seemed to notice and just thought was a cool pattern.

Now I'm trying to expand to the HP world.  I do love my scarves since they don't have any logos on them (even the one I got at Wizarding World!) and they're not Gryffindor, so no one ever picks up on them.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Navarathri 9 New Outfits in one snap! Individual Outfit Snaps Added on: October 16, 2011 07:55:20 AM
Oh these are so lovely.  My favorites are 3, 6, and 7.  I adore saris and wish I could wear them, but I honestly think white girls look ridiculous in saris.  Nevertheless, whenever my mom and I are out and about and see an Indian woman in a lovely sari, we gaze longingly at the outfit that shall never be ours.

Oh my goodness these are the coolest shoes I've ever seen.  Now I'm dreaming of making my own Cinderella-inspired pair...

For the latest HP swap, I made my partner two jewelry items.  First, I made this Time Turner decorative necklace.  She already had one based off the real Time Turner, but I wanted to make one that was a bit more discreet and more prudent to wear in an every day situation.  I'm also going to be making one for myself haha.  The pieces do spin, but not in different directions like the real one.

My partner's house was Ravenclaw, so I also made her a bracelet based off this tutorial.  I've actually used this technique tons of times since I found it last Christmas and I think the bracelets look really cool, though I prefer them for decoration than for actual wearing since they tend to bang around on the wrist a bit.

I received the most AMAZING package from Indigo_Roses yesterday!!  You guys, I was completely blown away when I opened it and so much awesomeness tumbled out.

Yesterday it was absolutely POURING out, so I was a little distressed to know that my package would arrive and have to sit in the rain.  Fortunately, the package was completely ensconced in packing tape and pictures from the movies!

The speech bubbles say, "Die Umbridge!" "Thanks Dumbles" "Crap! Harry!"

Here is a group shot of all the wonderful things I was sent (pretend there's lemon drops in this picture):

First we have some HP stickers:

Indigo_Roses sent me one of her transfiguration attempts: turning a mouse into a snuffbox.  She's almost got it!  Look's like there's a little Gryffindor action going on with it (did I mention Pottermore sorted me into Gryffindor?)

Then a ton of stuff from Honeydukes!  Three chocolate frogs in the new Christmas-themed packaging, some every-flavor-beans, cockroach clusters, lemon drops from Dumbledore, and licorice wands Redvines (what the hell can't they do???)

She also sent me not one, not two, but HALF A DOZEN pygmy puffs!!  I'm so excited to have my own puffs <3

Now we start getting seriously serious.  A beautiful Ravenclaw scarf, book colors, that I can't wait to wear all winter long

And the pièce de résistance, A BEAUXBATONS AFGHAN.  Since I transferred from Hogwarts to Beauxbatons, after all.  It is so beautiful.  I can't handle it.  I cannot articulate how wonderful it is.  First picture for detail, second picture is true colors, third picture shows detail of the whole blanket.

I cannot express thoroughly enough to the lovely Indigo_Roses how much I love what she sent me.  She was a wonderful partner and she a truly talented crafter!
