81  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Geek Chic Round 2 (Sendouts Nov. 15) CLOSED on: November 08, 2010 09:00:54 AM
it was on Netflix instant play so I went and started from the beginning...  About a week later I'd watched three whole seasons.

Hopefully some day I'll find a friend who loves the show as much as I do because right now all my friends mainly think of Doctor Who as "that weird English show Chloe talks about too much".  I need someone to go all fangirl over the Doctors with me...  Cheesy

That's exactly what happened to me! And that's why I got my mom to watch it, so that I would have someone to talk to about it. Too bad we're in different time zones, I'd hang out with you Sad

My crazy November schedule has changed again and instead of going on a short research cruise, I'm to be in London and Bangor next week instead. I hear there's a blue police box at the Earl's Court tube station in London. I'm SO gonna take a quick stop there and snap a photo with it! Funny thing is that I was in Earl's Court last year but hadn't started watching Dr. Who yet, now I'm all about finding the tardis. If only Bangor was closer to Cardiff too...

Oh, I'm SO jealous! You'll share the pictures, right? Pretty please?

I found the tardis!! It's apparently the only functioning police box left in London. Right as you go out the Earl's Court Tube station, it's just to the right.

..checking in too..

I finished the main project last night, tried something new and I think it came out pretty geektastic! I hope my swap buddy likes it. I still need to do the finishing touches on two more smaller items and the package will be good to go Smiley

This is great! Might have to be my project for when I go out to sea in November for work. What did you wind up doing for the simple decreases?

89  COOKING / Dessert / Re: octo-cake on: August 22, 2010 10:15:13 PM
PS: recipe doesn't say this but make sure you sift in the powdered sugar or you'll have a lot more kneading to do!
90  COOKING / Dessert / giant sushi maki cake on: August 22, 2010 10:13:55 PM
Here's another homemade fondant cake I made for my mom's birthday back in March. She likes sushi a lot. The "seaweed wrapper" and the "fish" are made from the fondant. the "rice" is dessicated coconut. The cake itself uses three or four round cake pans, enough to give it height.

usually you sift the powdered sugar to make it smooth but I didn't do it this time around to give the wrapper texture.. yeah that's why I did it.. I didn't forget or anything.. good thing it turned out better that way Wink
