11  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Ready for some football??? Jersey --> Bag on: June 19, 2006 06:04:09 PM
I'm a sucker for Miami Hurricane football. And I know August is a couple months away, but I just got inspired. I had this swell jersey that didn't fit me anymore. But no crying over spilt milk... I made it into a simple bag. UF and FSU fans might be jealous next season, but its for a worthy cause (UM football, of course)...

^ best pic I could take of the whole bag....

^ close-up of the, um, pouch part that was the front of the shirt. I know I sorta cut Miami off, but I couldn't really fix it or hem it.

^ close-up of strap. I thought there wasn't enough orange, until the fabric paint appeared

I wear it over the shoulder and there is enough room for water, the cellphone, lip gloss, etc. Don't forget, comments/suggestions are welcomed.

13  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / I NEED AN AGENT... FAST!!! on: April 29, 2006 07:21:19 PM
Last weekend, my friend had this very cool D.I.Y./movie marathon party.  She even gave us plain white tees to customize. I lacked imagination until, I thought about this ugly shirt I saw in on-line ad. It said "I need an agent". As in talent agent. Like the ones you need to become a film actress. Yeah, that's my dream. Anyways, this is what I came up with...

^ me wearing it.

^ a close-up of the front text

^ a close-up of the back detaling (a bit fuzzy, sorry)

The tee was huge on, so I re-sized it according to directions I found here on craftster. Then I used fabric paint and markers to decorate the front. I cut out the neckline to make it like a scooped neckline and when I did I cut a hole in the back. So then I stiched up the hole and painted the red star to disguse it. So, do you think my parents will get the message?

14  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Not Too Special, But I Made It Myself... on: April 18, 2006 03:34:32 PM
So I know we've seen a gazillion million iPod cozies by now. And although it's a Nano (his name is Murphy. Random, I know), it's not really unique. But that doesn't keep me from loving it!

Sorry if the pictures are a bit fuzzy...

15  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Halloween Party on: October 26, 2005 05:16:22 PM
My friend and I are throwing a Halloween slumber party this coming Saturday. It's gonna be fifteen freshmen girls and I'm so excited. The thing is we just got hit by Hurricane Wilma so stores are closed. So I need ideas for simple decorations that can be made with objects around the house. Thanks for your help!!!
16  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Sequined Flip-Flops on: July 07, 2005 03:46:28 PM

So I bought these new flip-flops. They were kinda ugly and need to be jazzed up (sorry Old Navy). I bought some sequins and I've already sewn on the sequins on of my flip-flops. Cheesy

Here are my pride and joy. (Hopefully y'all will be able to tell which one is before and which one is after.)

18  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / jean purse---needs flap or zipper! on: February 20, 2005 12:48:22 PM
next weekend, i was thinking of making a jean purse following these instructions:

'What you'll need: An old pair of jeans in decent condition, a sewing machine (bonding moment: get your mom or grandma to teach you how to use theirs) or a needle, thread (pick a color, any color), scissors and a little creativity.

First: Pick a leg of your doomed jeans and cut off the bottom hem, then set it aside. Be sure to get it nice and even, it's going to end up as the purse's super sturdy handle.

Then: Starting at the bottom of the snipped leg, measure the depth of the bag you'd like. A little bag should do -- you don't want to be carrying around a long denim tube! Try to keep it at least as deep as the height of the jeans' back pocket. Cut a nice, straight line across the leg at your desired length and you're ready to sew.

Okay: Turn the newly-cut leg piece inside out. Sew Young Sew Fun or Threads Online for beginner's tips and info.) Stitch one side together to create and seal the bottom of the bag. Whatever method you choose (hand sewing or machine) is totally cool -- just be sure you get that thing closed up or you'll be leaving a trail of tampons on your next trip to the mall.

Next: Carefully take the scissors to your back pocket of choice and remove it. If you've got a seam ripper, use it to make sure the pocket comes off cleanly. Turn the purse right side out and position the pocket in the center of your newly sewn sack. Then, turn it inside out again, and snugly sew on your well-placed pocket.

'Bout Done: Turn it right-side out. Take the bottom hem you set aside earlier, cut it to the length you'd like your handle to be, and sew one end to the inside of each side. Extra stitching is a good idea so everything will hold together nicely.

Finally, all finished! You've got an individualized jean bag ready"

but i dont want the purse to completely open. I was thinking off adding like flap i could button closed or a zipper, but dont know how. ne ideas or tips would rock! thanx y'all.  Wink
