1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Playing Card Clutch... Help! on: March 16, 2010 10:29:10 AM
Hey everyone! So last night, I got bit by the crafting bug, and I began working on a playing card clutch inspired by sweet fancy moses post: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=153179.0. She included a little tutorial, but I ran into issues, and she's inactive, so I was hoping you all could help me.

This is what I have:

The pieces I started out with:

Giant piece:

And the problem:

I have no idea how to fashion the side paneling out of cards, and I really struggled with it. Any tips/suggestions? Thanks!

Does anyone know any methods of tie-dying without buying various, over-priced, and messy dyes from the supermarket? Like kool-aid or anything? Thanks!

4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Need boyfriend help... on: June 03, 2008 04:03:50 PM
Okay, I'll try posting this again. I've already poured over some of the major threads here, but a good gift idea alludes me. I'm looking for any suggestions, DIY or not.

The guy: turning 18; loves music, movies, tv, reading, politics, etc.; sweet, but not romantic; we've been together for almost 2 years

Me: broke, no sewing machine at the moment, 10 days left

Previous gifts: pseudo romantic dinner (highly recommended), DVDs, stenciled tee, other tees, hackysack, scarf, cookies, brownies, cake, pie, watch, stuffed animal, picture frame

Any thoughts guys? I would really appreciate any help.
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Quick Compliment Gift! on: January 04, 2008 03:53:53 PM
Surprise, surprise! I'm in need of a gift. Nothing major, more like a compliment to for a gift (stationary set). My friend is moving to Texas and her going away party is tomorrow. Yes, a bit last minute, I know. And she has to be one of those people who has EVERYTHING. At least she's an interesting/fun character. Fun Facts to help you help me:

- moving to Austin
- has cats and dogs
- goes to summer camp: Camp Mystic
- loves Gilmore Girls
- loves comedies
- has a Wii
- more than a lil country
- moving FROM FL
- loves shopaholic books

Um, that's all that crosses my mind right now. Another problem, I don't have much available to me other than, well construction paper. I don't need a full-blown gift, just the stocking stuffer variety, and on the personal side. ANY HELP is greatly apperciated. Thanks!
6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / First stencil--- I'm really confused! on: June 13, 2007 11:59:31 AM
Okay, I'm planning on making this stencil from stencilry: http://www.kittybuttons.com/stencils/categories/movies/eternal%20sunshine/17oa.jpg

I want to bleach stencil it on a black shirt. So my question is, what do I cut out? Do I cut out all of the black?

Thanks for your help guys.
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / my first scarf--- and its fuzzy!!! on: July 29, 2006 07:05:56 PM
I've been working on this scarf since April. The yarn is really soft and pretty but it was difficult to work with, so I had to start over twice in mid scarf (it's not like I'm that slow of a knitter) Anyways, it's finally ready in time for the chilly August days in South Florida! Actually, my school is freezing so I might wear it during class.

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Foxy Tees; Tribute to the Doors!!! [IMG heavy] on: July 18, 2006 08:55:41 PM
Hello all my fellow craftsters! Me and my best friend/fellow craftster LuNaGirl painted these black tee's in a Twentieth Century Fox theme. For those who don't know, it's an awesome song by the Doors, check it out!

Here are the pictures of mine:

And this is LuNaGirl's:

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I need a tut for a hat... on: July 01, 2006 11:47:25 AM
I've always done like "flat knitting" like scarves but I want to knit a hat now. The thing is I have two problems: I don't really understand knitting terms, and even though the thread here that defines terms, I'm more of a visual learner. Which leads to the second problem, where a tut or pattern with pics would probably be best. Thanks for your help!
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / my first knitted bag!!! on: June 23, 2006 03:37:07 PM
Okay, I finished this bag way back in December but it came out slightly deformed. See, being a teenager, I didn't listen to my mom when she told me to stop knitting and it was perfect size. So at the end of my project I ended up with a bag that became all weighed down when there was stuff in it and the strap was too long and yeah. So it was shoved in my closet... until now. I found a great flower pin and I decided to use it. I simply used to pin some of the strap inside the bag. Plus it looks great... as in a bit better!

Before...

After...

So those are my small, artsy pics. The bag is good for holding a few folders, my phone, etc. but not really any heavy duty stuff. I'm gonna use it for semester exams, when we're only allowed to carry a few things.

Comments/suggestions are lovely and welcome.  Wink
