Have you looked on Ebay?  There's a huge variety, and they tend to be less expensive than elsewhere.  Since you have a vintage theme, note Ebay does have lots of actual vintage cake toppers.  That's the route I went, and it ended up around $18 after shipping (some go for a little less, some for MUCH more).  Sorry no time to post a pic, but here's a link to my closed auction:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320159366928

Wow, sounds worth a visit!  How do you find out about their "mortal days"?  (Feel free to message me next time -- not to deprive you of the bonding time at the bus stop, but we could carpool!)

Marci, your wedding was beautiful!  (As everyone else and her sister has already said, and rightly so....)

I can't tell you what an inspiration it is to see how well everything turned out, especially on a budget, because my own wedding will be SO similar!  Started with a cherry blossom idea that will still show up on invites, but everything else has morphed into lanterns and parasols and Martha's indispensable flowers and puffs.  With DIY or Ebay for just about everything else, and on about the same budget....

Reading those "other" boards can make a girl nervous, budget-wise, so it means the world that you've proven how beautifully it can all be pulled off.  And in such a short time, too!  When everything gets scary, expensive, or overwhelming, from now on I plan to keep your wedding in mind as my "you can do it" mantra.  You're my hero!!!

If you do decide to go with tissue-paper pom-poms, here's Martha's tutorial (I've been saving up those bookmarks too!):

Wonderful bag, Sharre.  And also ...?  You went to Can't Stop the Serenity in Australia!!  (I checked your profile to be sure we didn't miss your awesome bag on our "costume watch" here in Wash, DC....)  That is so cool!  It really was an international event!

For you Whedon fans who didn't make C.S.theS., have you seen his speech to Equality Now about why he writes strong female characters?  Amazing.  If you missed it, there's a link to the video in my blog, below.

Ooh, please please do show us your cherry blossom tree when it's done!  (Or better yet, while it's in progress as well....)  I'm obsessed with cherry blossoms and would love to see it!

So sorry to hear about your situation!  Have your tried looking on Craigslist?  (www.craigslist.org)  I use Craigslist every time I rent and have used it to rent out my spare room as well, and it's usually a great source for short-notice.

Note that there are different sites for Baltimore and DC, so it might be useful to check both.

Good luck!

Wow, what an amazing stash of images!  Those women really did their research.  I took away a lot of good ideas and thought it well worth registering with the site to get there....

Thanks so much for sharing, gaboo11!
