Ok, i have been watching all this for ages!! I have to share my info with you all!! Just an idea!!I am a dumpster diver of sorts..."my name is darla and i am a dumpster diver!"<< heehe..so I get some of my best material from the back of our home town furnisher store! yep! it is a local yokal' store!
Couple of things...one people discard there old couches, chairs ect when they get new ones! so sometimes there is material that can be used! i take a pocket knife with me
Now here is the best part........... the pattern books for fabric that are in these stores?? you know "oh, you want to order a lazy boy, well look through our choices of fabric and pic what you want..." they are usually on these big rings and you flip through them like a binder, well those change on a season basis just like clothes...they THROW THESE AWAY!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE USED THEM TO MAKE QUILTS THAT ARE JUST GREAT! THEY COME WITH A BIG PIECE OF PAPER ATTACHED TO THEM WHICH WITH A SEAM RIPPER THEY COME RIGHT OFF! most of this fabric says dry clean only...it is "bs' if you will! i have washed my quilts over and over and they are fine!
Just a thought, soon i will be using that fabric for purses...im just studying right now lookig for the right project!
I dont think the furnisher stores will give them to you but if you have any connections try it. Im sure when lazy boy etc sends the new styles out they are suppose to discard the dis-contenued fabrics..but you could try!
ps love the great work on here!
