1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 200 Patch Rainbow Skirt on: April 09, 2012 04:18:18 PM
I got the inspiration off ludicrouslouisa (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=226380.0) and decided that I had to make myself one of these. OMG I think I underestimated quite how much work was involved but I'm glad that I did it in the end. It took me about 2/3 weeks to make so here it is:

and a close up:

The waist band is 2" wide elastic with a plain black cotton casing but you cant see it in the photos.  Each patch was 15cm x 15 cm  sewn with a 1cm seam allowance Each tier is 1.5x (more or less with a few adjustments) the length of the previous one.

Red: 12 patches
Orange: 18 patches
Yellow: 27 patches
Green: 40 patches
Blue: 60 patches

I will apologise for the quality of the photos (and the modelling) I dont have a good stance in a skirt when standing and my Mom doesnt have great photography skills lol.
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Rat Toys on: April 09, 2012 03:57:43 PM
I was thinking about making a few toys for my rats out of some of my old clothes but could use some advise.
Such as ideas about what to stuff a few things with if i were to go down that route, or perhaps some ideas on what would be stimulating for them. In their cage they currently have a hammock type thing and a thick rope so i was trying to think of something a bit differant.
Any ideas or advise is welcome.
Thank you Smiley
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Paper mache book on: April 09, 2012 03:37:00 PM
I brought one of these http://direct.hobbycraft.co.uk/products-Selbach-And-Whiting-Mache-Book-Size-5_16415.htm the other day to start making the boxes for my Xmas gifts (yes I know its only April but I have a lot to make lol) and I've covered it in brown leather and used gold marker to make the outside look like a "real" book. The bit I am struggling with is making the bit that would be the pages (of a closed book, if you understand what I mean) actually look like pages of a closed book. I was thinking that I might be able to find some paper that already has that type of pattern on but I've had no luck so far.
Any ideas as to how I could achieve this look?
