I was asked a few months ago to make a quilt to be auctioned off on Tim Horton's Camp Day.
I was going to do traditional quilt squares with binding and all but it didn't feel very camp like to me. Camp is discovery, exploration, friendship, fun and memories! A rag quilt became my choice! Each square is out of my head... I have seen similar stuff but, nothing was from an exact pattern and I realized how awesome my quilt stash is lol
Many of the blocks have bead work and needlepoint writing. It took me about 50 hrs of hand stitching, beadwork and cutting and about 20 hrs on the machine and I loved every friggin' second of it! I am so happy quilting. I can't even explain the elation. I just feel content and satisfied when I am done.
We are hoping to get a few hundred bucks from the auction to send a kid to camp! And I did all of it for nothing. Just my way of paying back as my 2 oldest have had the privledge of attending the Tim Horton's Camp that is just north of us and they went for free due to donations from Camp Day. So All I ask is that if you live within 20 miles of a Tim's tomorrow, please go grab a cup of java and toss them a $5! Let em keep the change... that change will change a kids life
