augh. i finally find a local yarn store and it's going out of biz. damn.  it was closed when i drove past yesterday, so i pulled up the website.  http://www.riveryarns.com  then i called the store to find out what's going on.  got the voicemail (not open yet) and they mentioned "everything is 50% off".  HOLY CRAP, 50% off on yarn & supplies???

24  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / oh my goodness, i think i'm done with the projects! on: June 14, 2006 03:56:10 PM
i've been crafting my brains out for our wedding (june 24th, eek!) and i think i can officially say i'm done.  thank goodness!!  we invited 200 people, but only needed 90-something invitations made. we've been aiming for a show rate of 50%  so i made 130 of everything just in case.

25  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Blooming bag on: June 10, 2006 05:58:47 PM
Started and finished my first project from the HH today!  It's a gift for my future sister-in-law (wedding's only 2 weeks away, eek!).  I expected it to go faster than it did, but the lining was tedious and I was distracted by a few World Cup matches.

It's a slight departure from the published pattern because of the yarn I used.  After digging around my yarn bin I decided to use leftover cotton yarn from the ruffle-scarf crochetalong (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=59304.0).  See?  http://www.flickr.com/photos/moptopstumptown/58612953/in/photostream/  The original plan was to just use pink & blue, but I ran out of pink and had to toss in a few rows of brown to reach the handle.  Oh well.  I'm still happy with everything but the liner which doesn't match at all.

26  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / finally, some privacy on: May 16, 2006 08:39:04 AM
our new apartment is a loft and the bedroom doesn't have a door.  it creeps me out.  so i went to home depot and picked up a traversing curtain rod. i sweet-talked the fiance into helping me install it in our bedroom and started fabric hunting.  picked up this crazy, sheer polyester pattern off the clearance section at joanne's for $4/yd.

30  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Funky mittens on: November 13, 2005 11:29:11 PM
does anyone have a pattern for making some hip looking mittens?  i've only found a few patterns and they look like lumpy, grandma-esque, boxes.  sooooo not what i'm looking for.  i'm about to go commando and run wild without a pattern, but i think it'd be safest if i played with a pattern first.  have y'all found anything worth trying?
