Bowser from Super Mario Bros.

For Halloween this year I made my son a "Bowser" costume.  I used a pattern for the body with my own embellishments and created the head and shell from scratch.  Everything is made from fleece and stuffing.  The costume took about 2 weeks off and on to work on.  I made the shell a kind of backpack so he could take it off and ride in the car without difficulties.  He specifically asked for the mouth to be open so it looked like he was being eaten

My son wanted a dragon pillow pet.  I needed a new project, so i decided to make him one    i couldn't find a dragon pattern (for the head) so i made one up - which i have never done before.  i just started sewing from patterns a few months ago!  he picked out the colors and material (its really soft - i think the same material that 'real' pillow pets are made of).

its not perfect, its a bit goofy looking - but my son loves it!

i couldn't find anyone who could help me cut wood, so i decided to make a wreath.  the white behind it is fleece that i cut in strips and tied into the backing to hide the back.  i was going to cut it back but decided that i really liked it showing through to the front.   

I used this recipe http://asouthernfairytale.com/2010/07/21/easy-no-bake-petit-fours/ to make these yummy treats.  it was fairly easy - but very sticky.  and since it was my first time with fondant i learned a lot!  i made 48 covered cakesters for a work exchange.

i made 3 different designs.  the stars and hearts are made with cookie cutters.  and oh goodness, they were yummy!

they are just paper bags filled with crumpled paper, the heads are made by putting a rubber band around the middle. then we just taped 'feathers' on the back, the red pieces and the beak on and i let my son (5) make their faces!

I entered my other costume I made for the contest, but i still wanted to share what I was this halloween: Pikachu!

I made the pants, shirt (which has brown stripes on the back), hat and tail.  the tail is attached using the same method wings are usually attached - back pack style. The tail was made out of foam, fleece and lots of hot glue.  the rest of it was made out of fleece.  i didn't use a pattern, just winged it.

I made this costume using a pattern (that I modified).  My son picked out the fabrics to use - I think they were great choices!
