11  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Wash's dinosaurs on: September 09, 2010 02:05:35 PM
I had no idea where to place this.  This is desk art for my husband's birthday.  He's a big Firefly fan, so one of the things I'm giving him is Wash's Dinosaurs to take to work and put on his desk.

And the Firefly logo on the back
12  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / I made a bolero jacket on: September 09, 2010 01:16:40 PM
This is the black satin bolero jacket I made with no pattern for a wedding.

And here is a very bad picture of me on the day, but it shows the bolero with the dress it was intended for.

Thanks for looking!
13  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Favorite pattern? on: September 01, 2010 02:56:01 PM
As a curvy girl, what are your favorite and most flattering patterns.  I need to go buy some patterns, and I was wondering what other curvy girls had found and liked.  Thanks in advance!
14  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Too old for Lolita? on: August 25, 2010 01:27:45 PM
How old do you think is too old for Lolita style clothing?  I moved from California to North Carolina and NC isn't exactly fashion forward.  In general, people take a lot less risks with their clothing.  I'm wondering what the general consensus is as far as when a woman can't get away with Loli styles anymore.  Thanks!
15  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Help me choose my fabric- bolero on: August 20, 2010 02:59:21 PM
I am making a black satin 3/4 sleeve bolero jacket for a wedding in two weeks.  I have two different satins and would like advice on which to use.  The first is very lightweight, shiny on both sides, and would work well for a slinky dress or even lingerie.  The second one is medium weight or maybe even heavyweight, and is only shiny on one side.  I'm not sure what the underside is made of.  My dilemma is that I'm not sure how much structural integrity the fabric itself should have.  Do I need a heavier fabric than the lightweight satin?  Will the heavier one look like a bad eighties prom dress?  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
16  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / First project posted: Fuzzy bags on: August 12, 2010 10:38:25 PM
This is the first project that I've ever posted because I'm still pretty new to Craftster.
Here is a purple faux fur purse for my sister who LOVES all things purple.

And a fuzzy blue messenger bag style purse.  Please excuse my cat who snuck in frame just as I snapped the picture.  i took another one, but the color was off, so I decided to use this one, despite the intruder.  The material reminds me so much of Cookie Monster that I am tempted to but a face on the flap.

Thanks for looking!
17  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Gibbous for bigger girls? on: August 05, 2010 02:33:11 PM
So, I have been really inspired by all of the Gibbous inspired projects here on craftster and really want to give it a try, but I'm a little concerned.  I'm a big girl.  I'm almost 6ft tall and am a 22/24.  I'm afraid that what looks beautiful and magical and fairy-like on a smaller girl will make me look like a big pile of rags.  I'm going to cross-post this on the Gibbous sew-along thread, but I thought I would pose the question to those who are more familiar with dressing similar body types.  Do you have any suggestions of what type of item I should attempt in the Gibbous style that won't make me look even bigger?  Any and all suggestion would be helpful  Thanks!
