I made this for the knitting Olympics...



I love it so so so much.   GGH Goa is a dream to work with.  I made it the medium width and the large length.  I'm happy with the length, but it's a little wide on me.   I'm not really sure if it's flattering or not, but everyone else seems to think it is.

The straps worried me (and my mom).   They looked really short, but they turned out fine.

I love this top so super much and now I feel like a grown-up knitter!

Oh, by the way, that's my gold medal!   My best friend Megan made it for me!

They were really easy to make and my first cabled pattern.   I totally recommend the Simply Soft.   It's cheap and yeilds soft results!

I'm making the Eternal Embrace shrug from The Anticraft (you can find the pattern here... http://www.theanticraft.com/eternalembrace.htm).   The great thing about this pattern is that it uses Caron Simply Soft (soft and cheap!), it's very customized, and it comes out all in one piece... yay for no seaming!

The version I've started knitting is black and will be done without the garter stitch cuff... all stockingnette.  Right now I'm knitting the first sleeve, but I'm sure I'll need help/support when I get to the shoulder shaping!

I made it with black Rio de la Plata 29.   It's a 100% wool yarn that is a lot like Manos de Uraguay.





It took me 4 tries to start this, but as soon as I got the pattern down it was easy!  I plan on making a lot more, because it was really quick.

I've tried a couple of different options for the ties.   I made an I-cord and that looked too thick.   What I have on in this picure is just yarn tied together.   If I can remember how to do a crochet chain, maybe I'll do that.   But I'm really thinking of just getting some black ribbon.

Some other versions in the works are one's made with mohair yarn, so I can get that really spiderwebby look.
