1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: Multi-Strand Suspended Blue beads on: February 23, 2007 06:04:58 AM
That's really lovely -  I'm jealous!

This may be a really silly question, but what kind of wire did you use to make it, if you don't mind me asking?

Cool. Smiley

I live near Manchester, getting married in September... I'm now considering attempting a tiara - hmmm! Did you use a basic headpiece to begin with? How did you attach the jewels along the base? Not sure if that makes a huge amount of sense, but never mind!

That looks really lovely - I've seen tiaras in bridal shops, not as nice as yours, that cost up to 85. Well done! Smiley

Whereabouts in the UK are you?

5  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / U.K. AND IRELAND / Re: Manchester - Trafford Centre? on: April 04, 2006 01:12:52 PM
As far as I remember, there aren't any craft shops in the Trafford Centre, but there is a wonderful place called Fred Aldous in Manchester city centre... I think that their website is www.fredaldous.co.uk if you're interested! Smiley

Thanks so much! That's really helpful.

I had been making my own jumprings basically because the thicker ready-made ones I had looked odd with the wire I used. I think it might be best if I try to buy thicker ones or make thicker ones, use 20 guage wire as much as possible even when it hurts my fingers! Wink Hehe.

Anyway great advice, thanks!

hey purplefluffycow (cool name!) i really appreciate the comments!

I was really pleased with how the bracelet turned out, though scared to wear it outside as the first time i put it on my wrist one of the links popped open! I would actually love to get advice on the jump rings... do people solder them or something? Maybe i should use thicker wire, but i find 0.8mm really difficult to work with so I was using 0.4 and i think maybe it's just a bit too pliable... hmm.

Any help would be great! Smiley

Oh and I do have a local Hobbycraft and will be popping in at some stage I'm sure Smiley

Wow ok the heart ones are popular!  Cheesy

Sadly I didn't come up with the idea myself, they were based on an idea from a book, "Creating Wire and Beaded Jewelry" (Linda Jones) which has some *really* pretty stuff in by the way! I'm waiting for the day when I can actually think up some ideas myself...!

beadgirl - what's a jig?! So... I don't think I used one! I'm curious now, though...

bracelet_girl - thanks so much for those websites! You're a star!  Grin
