so i'm playing around with shrinky dinks for the first time. i bought a roseart shrinky dink kit but the instructions are awful. they basically just tell you to colour, cut and cook. so i'm wondering how much they'll shrink. say my cut out is an inch before i cook it, will it turn out to be 1/2 an inch? 1/4 an inch? any info would be lovely. thanks!
so my mom is knitting slippers for our friend's two year old. she found a pattern for teddy bear slippers (just a simple slipper with a knitted teddy bear face stuck on them) but we want to give him puppy slippers seeing as we have a puppy he just adores. i've looked all over the net for "puppy slippers" with no luck. anyone know how to knit a puppy head or where to find a pattern for one. everyone she makes looks like a bunny rabbit. thanks for any suggestions!
i need your clever ideas and input. i'm in an awful funk. just blue and lonely (as all my friends are displaced and i haven't made a new one at university yet as i'm a good five years older than the rest), feeling ugly and uninspired and utterly bored with myself. i need a new interest, a new hobby, a new passion. to keep this on a crafty level, it is affecting my crafting as i have little inspiration to make anything or finish anything i start.
to aid in the suggestions, i love writing (creative and journalism), literature, tv, movies, music (music, music, music! rock music in all shapes and forms), fashion, stenciling, sewing, jewellry making and so on.
anyone know where i'm coming from? anyone have suggestions on how to get out of a funk like this? i feel like i need a big change, something new and fun and social. thanks girls!
so i may be reacting a little too early as i JUST had my nose peirced 1/2 hour ago. she said it'd bleed, that it's an especially bloody one. what should i do? tilt my head back, keep wiping the blood?? it hurts to keep cleaning the blood off but i can feel it bleeding. since so many of you have this done can you give me some advice???
anyone else here in the midst of growing out bangs?
i just need to vent because it's so frustrating! i had my hair really short then decided to grow it into a bob with bangs the same length but my bangs aren't even past my eyebrows yet. i've been sweeping them to the side and they look so dorky. i hate my hair so much i'm tempted to chop it all of again but i'm determined to grow them out. i need some words of encouragment...and maybe some ideas so i don't look so lame.
i am so frustrated! i sent a package to sedrasmom in the u.s. (i'm in ontario, canada) weeks and weeks ago and it still hasn't reached her yet. my first two swaps went smoothly. the first was a bookmark swap and the second was within canada but my first craft swap to the u.s. has been a disaster! it's annoying to put all that effort into a swap (well it was a cd swap, but still took effort) and the recipient hasn't even gotten it yet. it's especially bad when i got hers no problem. i feel like a flake and it's not my fault.
has anyone else had problems sending packages from canada to the u.s.? i just sent a package out for another swap to oregon and i'm hoping this doesn't happen again. does anyone know why this happens? does customs just like to hold things? how can i avoid this?
how about a swap for us single girls? kind of like an anti-guy swap. we could make each other cd's of angry girl music, journals to vent about how much guys suck, t-shirts saying "ditch him", etc. it could be good for those of us recently heartbroken, frustrated with dating, sick of guys or just happy being single.
if there's enough interest, i'd be happy to organize it.
by the way, you male crafters and those with husbands/boyfriends, we do still love you.
so i've always loved writing and have studied journalism and am thinking i'd like to start my own zine (online or paper, haven't decided). it's an idea i've toyed with for years but i've never been sure where to start. i tried a while back but was a little too ambitious and got overwhelmed and it never even got off the ground.
for those of you with zines, past or present, or a good knowledge of zines, how did you get started? did you pick a theme or genre or just do whatever? i live in a boring suburb without a lot of access to zines so i haven't really read many. i've read about zine-writing on the web but i'd like the opinions of some of you crafty people.
