1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Hat from a man's sweater on: December 07, 2010 06:12:40 PM
The seam goes from ear to ear.  This hat is made out of a thin merino wool sweater...because it was thin, I cut both pieces together (at the bottom of the sweater, to keep the ribbing for the hem).

I followed the tutorial in this thread:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=72335.0
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Hat from a man's sweater on: December 01, 2010 08:23:20 PM
This is my first attempt at a reconstructed item...I made this hat for a friend for Hanukkah from my husband's merino wool sweater (yes, WITH his permission!! ;-)

I didn't know how to add the beads to the bow, so I sewed it perpendicular across the top...and it wound up looking like a dragonfly or butterfly or something...I actually kind of love that!

As for the actual cutting of the sweater/shaping of the hat pattern, I just kind of eyeballed it.  It is going to take a little finessing to figure out how to make it the right shape and less bumpy.  (If anyone has any tips on that, I'm all ears.) Still, I was pretty happy with it overall.

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Men's comfy pants on: December 01, 2010 08:13:45 PM
I made these flannel pants for my husband for Hanukkah.  They're just basic lounge pants and I added in-seam pockets.  (I'm still working on getting the print of the fabric pattern to match across the center front seam...sigh).

4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Dinosaur pants on: December 01, 2010 08:05:43 PM
I made these dino pyjama pants for my nephew for Hanukkah.  I was a bit unsure about the length, so I made a long hem to the inside (for rolling up).

5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / The Elvis shirt on: December 01, 2010 08:01:46 PM
My kid absolutely loves the guitar, so I made him this Elvis shirt.  I didn't get the pattern exactly matching on the front, but hey.  I tried!!

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / The "Babs" Bag - recon from an old t-shirt on: September 15, 2010 05:42:24 PM
I just made this bag from an old t-shirt (and other fabric)...I am giving it to a friend for her birthday.   It's lined and has a couple of pockets inside...

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / A simple puzzle bag on: September 15, 2010 05:35:02 PM
I made this zipper bag to house my son's puzzle pieces (that somehow end up all over my house).  He loves it and keeps saying, "Present?  Present?" (I think because of the ribbon on top).

8  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Boy's sock monkey dress shirt on: September 09, 2010 01:32:46 PM
Yes - the pattern was Burda 9792.   I did discover (as a relative sewing newbie) that Burda pattern instructions are NOT terribly newbie-friendly!
9  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Boy's sock monkey dress shirt on: September 02, 2010 07:32:44 PM
I just finished my son's sock monkey dress shirt...I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.  There was a lot of cussing while making the collar, cuffs, and buttonholes, lemme tell ya!

Anyway, I think it's going to be part of his new outfit for Rosh Hashanah...I'm either going to recon a clip-on tie or red sweater vest to go with it. Smiley

10  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Two different boys' toddler pants - New Look Pattern #6880 on: September 02, 2010 07:20:52 PM
I got the broom from Toys 'R' Us...he loves that thing!  Smiley
