1  Hat from a man's sweater in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by stasia74 on: December 01, 2010 08:23:20 PM
This is my first attempt at a reconstructed item...I made this hat for a friend for Hanukkah from my husband's merino wool sweater (yes, WITH his permission!! ;-)

I didn't know how to add the beads to the bow, so I sewed it perpendicular across the top...and it wound up looking like a dragonfly or butterfly or something...I actually kind of love that!

As for the actual cutting of the sweater/shaping of the hat pattern, I just kind of eyeballed it.  It is going to take a little finessing to figure out how to make it the right shape and less bumpy.  (If anyone has any tips on that, I'm all ears.) Still, I was pretty happy with it overall.

2  Men's comfy pants in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by stasia74 on: December 01, 2010 08:13:45 PM
I made these flannel pants for my husband for Hanukkah.  They're just basic lounge pants and I added in-seam pockets.  (I'm still working on getting the print of the fabric pattern to match across the center front seam...sigh).

3  Dinosaur pants in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by stasia74 on: December 01, 2010 08:05:43 PM
I made these dino pyjama pants for my nephew for Hanukkah.  I was a bit unsure about the length, so I made a long hem to the inside (for rolling up).

4  The Elvis shirt in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by stasia74 on: December 01, 2010 08:01:46 PM
My kid absolutely loves the guitar, so I made him this Elvis shirt.  I didn't get the pattern exactly matching on the front, but hey.  I tried!!

5  The "Babs" Bag - recon from an old t-shirt in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by stasia74 on: September 15, 2010 05:42:24 PM
I just made this bag from an old t-shirt (and other fabric)...I am giving it to a friend for her birthday.   It's lined and has a couple of pockets inside...

6  A simple puzzle bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by stasia74 on: September 15, 2010 05:35:02 PM
I made this zipper bag to house my son's puzzle pieces (that somehow end up all over my house).  He loves it and keeps saying, "Present?  Present?" (I think because of the ribbon on top).

7  Boy's sock monkey dress shirt in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by stasia74 on: September 02, 2010 07:32:44 PM
I just finished my son's sock monkey dress shirt...I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.  There was a lot of cussing while making the collar, cuffs, and buttonholes, lemme tell ya!

Anyway, I think it's going to be part of his new outfit for Rosh Hashanah...I'm either going to recon a clip-on tie or red sweater vest to go with it. Smiley

8  Fabric toy car storage box in Completed Projects by stasia74 on: August 24, 2010 11:34:51 AM
I just made this toy car storage box as part of a present for my son's friend (who just turned two).  It's made out of mat board, quilting batting and fabric.  I got the tutorial here:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=154750.0, and added a handle (nylon cord) and a Velcro closure on the front.

9  One more pair of toddler pants - now with tractors! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by stasia74 on: August 24, 2010 11:24:18 AM
Okay, so this is the third pair of pants I've made from the same pattern (I'll be retiring it for a while now!)  These tractor pants are for my son's little friend, who turned two on Sunday.

Unfortunately, I didn't realize until I was done that the fabric actually had a "right side up" pattern...so I cut one side of the pants upside down!  Oh well.  You can't win 'em all, right?

10  Baby Romper - Simplicity Pattern #3509 in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by stasia74 on: August 16, 2010 11:47:59 AM
I just finished this romper (a baby gift for a friend of mine) this morning (at 2 am!!)   I really love how it turned out (although all the sewing wasn't necessarily "pretty," if you know what I'm sayin'...)

This was my first experience with snap tape...it wasn't as bad as I had feared.
