1  My Thor-some T-shirt (embellished tank top) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Lillibet on: May 07, 2012 02:38:58 AM
So, Avengers Assemble is out, and I am excited beyond belief. Now, though, what is the appropriate way to celebrate that? By dressing up as a superhero when you go and see the movie, of course!  Grin

please ignore the marks on my mirror!

That's the thought process that led to this outfit - it's just a basic black tank that I've added four shiny silver discs to. The discs have been chain stitched in from the edges to add a bit of extra ooomph to it, then attached to the tank top - it was all handswen. I've paired it with a red cardigan to represent the cape, which sort of shows that I've thought way too much about this outfit Tongue

I do know there should be six shiny silver discs, but I ran out of time  Grin I rarely handsew, and I'm seeing the film (again) on Monday (today!), after starting this on Sunday night. I'm impressed that it's as complete as it is, to be honest!

Also, Chocolate_Jo has made a wonderful Iron Man T-shirt that I would encourage you to check out Cheesy it's here

I'm also having this problem. I use Google Chrome, and I've tried refreshing after deleting the cookies.

Oddly, if I use the arrows below the pictures, they show up again.

3  Patchwork Print Elastic Sundress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Lillibet on: February 20, 2011 12:52:38 PM
This is why I took up sewing Im about 6 foot tall and finding sundresses that preserve my modesty and look cute is difficult. This one does both Cheesy

The fabric is gorgeous (cue the close-up photo) and a lovely print.

I made it in a similar way to the elastic waist skirts, using nothing more than two rectangles and two strips of elastic. It stays up as a strapless dress, but I think it looks better with the straps. The chest area is lined, to provide the casing for the elastic. I came up with the way to make it myself, as far as I'm aware, although I'm sure I'm not the first person to think "Oh god, how do I get away without a zip?!" Detail shot below.

Im super pleased with it and plan to make it in a variety of prints blue and white polka dot next, I think.

Thanks to my 12 year old brother for the photos Smiley

4  Ninja Apron (from embroidery pattern) in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects by Lillibet on: February 20, 2011 12:36:22 PM
First, let me confess. This is a Christmas present. No, Im not super efficient and ready for 2011 already. Im late so very, very late Cheesy.

(please forgive my smeary mirror - I didn't notice until I'd taken the photo!)

Its pretty good in the end. Its lined, as is the (beautifully crooked) pocket and altogether Im happy with it Smiley.

The ninjas are by Craftster member Mindboggld (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=156914) and they were originally embroidery patterns, but she very kindly let me use them as iron-on transfers.

Gratuitous photo time now:

5  Cute Cat Coin Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Lillibet on: January 16, 2011 02:07:51 PM
Using a fabric sample, I made a lined, zipped purse with a cute embroidered cat face on the front Smiley and it is quite clearly the best thing ever. Cheesy

And lining:

The boyfriend deserves an honourable mention for coming up with the general idea for the pattern Wink he is that impressed you would think that he made it!

I used this tutorial: http://twelve22.org/2006/07/zipper_tutorial.htm only I didnt use a zipper foot. I think it took about an hour and a half to make, even with unpicking. Im planning on making another one with purple fabric Smiley the face will be embroidered a bit lower on this one.

The lining fabric is Cath Kidston, from my stash. The outer is curtain fabric (I am using some for a quilt, but not this one as it didnt match). The embroidery is satin and back stitch, and is interfaced on the back.

6  Any idea where to find brown fabric with gold polkadots [UK]? in Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions by Lillibet on: September 20, 2010 02:02:05 PM
I've done a quick search and I can't see this mentioned anywhere, but does anyone know where to find fabric a little like this?

Ideally I'd like it to be cheap, under about 5/m and gold/yellowy circles about 6 inches in diameter.

If that sounds a little specific, it's because it's for a specific project in my head and it MUST be this fabric and NO OTHER WILL DO.  Roll Eyes

If not, how hard would it be to paint the circles onto the cotton?

7  Retro Gamer Style Couple Digital Drawing in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Lillibet on: August 19, 2010 02:58:20 PM

Here is an 8-bit style drawing of my boyfriend and I. He's really into Diesel Sweeties (the webcomic) as am I, so he "loves it" apparently.  Grin

I know it looks really easy, which is why I attempted this, but believe me - it isn't! This took two hours, working from a photo on my computer, and I've already started to notice my shoulder is off on the left, but other than that, I'm happy Cheesy

(we are in fancy dress as Velma and Shaggy - he didn't need a wig!)
