I'm a Newbie too, OrangeKnickers, so part of this challenge would be to get someone else to organize. I could give it a shot, of course, but I don't think someone totally without experience would do the swap justice.
As for a timeframe, what does everyone think about mid to late September? We'd finish just before the holiday roundup started...
This sounds like fun but leads to one concern, being able to get ahold of said episode to be able to watch. Maybe its just me being poor but unless it's on hulu or another tv site i dont really know how to go about getting episodes....
Most television shows can be rented on DVD, watched online, or had from Netflix. However, we could probably do something like ask partners to make sure their TV show can be easily accessed before listing them. Of course, people would have a little bit more of a choice since we'll be listing more than one television show.
I see a lot of tv show specific swaps crop up on the Craftster boards. There are a lot of fabulous shows out there, some mainstream, some not so much. I thought it would be neat to create an open-program swap where someone can name four of five shows that they watch and their favorite episode. Not only would each participant get much-anticipated goodies out of this, but there would be a lot of people watching new shows for the first time. Who knows? They might even love it as much as their partner!
It could be an international swap, but I think for the sake of simplicity we should stick to programs that are in an English speaking format 20-25 people, medium and two smalls, that kind of thing.
I personally couldn't organize it, but I know there are plenty of talented/wonderful/super awesome crafsters out there who would be perfect for the job.
Since the start of summer intermission from all my favorite shows (Bones, Vampire Diaries) I've been rediscovering the classic Golden Girls. Who doesn't love Blanche, Rose, Dorothy, Sophia, and in some distant part of our hearts, Stan?
I've been looking around and there seems to be a lot of interest in TV-show related swaps. I don't have swap experience personally, but I believe a quick swap for instant gratification would be just the thing if someone would offer to organize it. 25 participants, available worldwide. Say, a medium and 2 smalls at the most?
Some of the possible crafts that come to mind are--embroidered quotes, show-inspired crochet (Sophia knits and crochets often on the show, maybe a scarf?), yarn ball with inspired goodies inside, character based crafts (a polymer mini-chicken and a piano?), or a Craft My Favorite Episode option. Free-for-all crafting based on the partner's favorite show.
It's a challenge, but I think it would be worth it.
