1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / String me along! on: September 26, 2005 01:50:27 PM
hi there, this is my first time visiting this section of craftster, since I am such a beading idjit.

I'm hoping one of you crafty gals will take pity on me and help with this problem.  I made this beautiful satin purse for my cousin to use on her wedding day:

I decided to add a beaded strap so she could hold the clutch easily, as shown below.

So today as I am getting it ready to ship off, the bracelet snaps and off fly the beads everywhere.  This ALWAYS happens to me when I made a necklace.  Can someone point me to a resource (or just tell me iffin you know) the right way to connect the "string" to a clasp?  They always come untied...is it the string I am using?  Or am I knotting wrong? Am I missing some essential finding?

I just don't want it to break on her wedding day, I would never forgive myself.  My cousin and I thank all of you in advance!
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Wedding Purse Help? on: August 09, 2005 10:24:28 AM
I offered to make my cousin the purse for her wedding day as her shower gift.  I have an idea of what style she would like, but haven't had any luck finding pattterns.  I'd like to make a clutch in satin, but it would need to be heavily interfaced so it isn't squishy.  Do any of you have any resources I can try for patterns for classy evening purses/bridal purses?  Any help would be waaaay appreciated!

Thanks!
3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / I need feet! on: August 09, 2005 10:02:46 AM
I feel like a dolt for asking this, but where do you purchase additional feet for your machine?  I bought my machine at Sears (it's a Janome) but I shouldn't need to buy feet only from Janome right? Can I only do this online or at a sewing machine repair shop?
4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Misfits Ipod Cozy on: July 30, 2005 09:33:37 AM
I made this super quick for my stepson who has a tendency to abuse his ipod unitentionally.  It's felt with a fleece layer imbetween and quilted.  I liked the final product so I thought I would share!

5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Onesies, onesies and more onesies! on: May 27, 2005 08:07:39 PM
Hi!  I've been lurking at crafster for a long time, and have even managed to respond to a few posts, but this is my first time doing show and tell!  I was a former cross stitcher-I gave up as soon as I tried embroidery!  It started out as making presents for friends who just had babies, but then my onesie obsession just took over completely.

Some designs are sublime , some  Dover, one is stolen from Anne Taintor (given to a friend) and some are my own.  I'm working on opening a web store to sell them, in the meantime I would love some feedback!

6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Methods for laundering finished embroidery on onesies? on: April 07, 2005 12:13:18 AM
I just finished embroidering several baby onesies for a friend who is expecting and want to wash them before gifting...how do you reccomend washing them?  Since this is my first time embroidering clothing, I'm also wondering if the methods are different for adults.  (I'm not a mom, but I hear babies need special types of detergent)

It seems everyone has their own opinions, but I have heard so many conflicting things (wash normally, only hand wash, never use woolite, only use woolite, etc.) that I am paralazyed with fear to try anything!
