21  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: Will Amy Butler's purse patterns make me crazy? on: August 10, 2005 06:40:20 AM
21 yards in one pop!  You are a girl after my own heart, I too get a bit crazy with the stash building.  I've never bought from e-quilter, but you may have inspired me to check it out now.

I may just PM you for that disk, I didn't realize that Eric had another band.  Oh, and feel free to PM me with any questions about the patterns mmmkay?

I never heard for crooked fingers, are they a spin off?

Did you end up buying a pattern??

Duh, I didn't even think of checking for a craftster tutorial!  Thanks so much Itza, I think the first bag might work quite well!

Excellent!  I had a lot of fun making the purse.

BTW, is your nic name in reference to the band Archers of Loaf?  I love them!

Well if you have any questions once you get started, feel free and ask me!  Maybe I will even have the pattern and can check it out for you.

One thing I have noticed, when I started sewing I was really paranoid about doing everything PERFECTLY, but the more I sew the more comfortable I feel "coloring out of the lines".  Especially when you are creating purses which don't have to *fit*.  Have fun, be creative and enjoy!

Here is my velma bag...

I have several Amy Butler patterns and I taught myself to sew and read patterns and I didn't have any problems.  I made the Velma purse for the Blue Purse swap (only my fourth purse ever) and my partner loved it and wondered if I sold bags.  Anyway, didn't mean to toot my own horn there, it was just to say, if I did it you can too!

Next I want to try the nappy bag or madison...

I offered to make my cousin the purse for her wedding day as her shower gift.  I have an idea of what style she would like, but haven't had any luck finding pattterns.  I'd like to make a clutch in satin, but it would need to be heavily interfaced so it isn't squishy.  Do any of you have any resources I can try for patterns for classy evening purses/bridal purses?  Any help would be waaaay appreciated!

Thanks!

I live about a billion miles away from a Hancock.  (Why is it that there are no good craft stores in the north east!) They don't seem to sell them at Joann's, Michael's, or the Rag Shop, which are my options.

I feel like a dolt for asking this, but where do you purchase additional feet for your machine?  I bought my machine at Sears (it's a Janome) but I shouldn't need to buy feet only from Janome right? Can I only do this online or at a sewing machine repair shop?
