1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Photography help please! on: March 11, 2011 12:39:43 PM
My mother has a fugifilm S2800 HD camera. She is trying to take some pictures of the northern lights, but she can't seem to get the settings right. She is unsure about the frames per second and shutterspeed. I'm not sure if the settings for it are different than many other cameras. Anyone know what the frames per second should be set at? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks so much!!!

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Pattern help please!!! on: January 23, 2011 06:35:55 PM
I'm so confused!  Huh
I'm crocheting a coat (http://www.naturallycaron.com/projects/st_petersburg/st_petersburg_1.html) for my mother. She wears a medium. The part I've done so far fits her perfectly. But the height between her armpit and shoulder is much taller than the pattern. I was thinking of adjusting the height of the shoulders, but then I realized that I would have to change the sleeves as well. Any ideas? Would it work if I just changed the sleeves to a large? HELP PLEASE!!  Undecided

Also, anyone know how to wash home-made projects?

Thanks!!!

4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Few questions about local selling.... on: January 14, 2011 10:02:10 AM
I've brainstormed multiple times and can't think of how to start. I crochet a bunch of things. My husband suggested that I sell. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to advertize and actually get noticed.

Also, anyone have any favorite fashion design books that show how to create patterns and drawing techniques?

Help would be so much appreciated!!!
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / I LOVE drawing my own clothing designs! on: December 12, 2010 05:09:57 AM
Hope to start a clothing line someday. Anyone else?
6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Anyone know how to read Japanese? on: December 12, 2010 05:07:22 AM
I've got a book full of Japanese sewing patterns that I absolutely LOVE! The problem is: I don't know how to read Japanese. I found a link that explains the words on the pattern pieces (which will probably take me forever to figure out still) but not for the sewing instructions themselves. Some are pretty easy to figure out from the pics, but others are not. Pictures would be helpful to explain. Thanks in advance!
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Christmas Projects! on: November 30, 2010 11:10:23 AM
I'm wondering f anyone is crocheting any gifts for Christmas. It is always fun to see what others are making. Smiley
8  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / The Amazon Warrior on: November 04, 2010 09:44:48 AM
I don't have many pictures, but here she is!

My home-made parts:
the corset: had to majorly alter a pattern. She really is an amazon
the bracelets: my own design. Took furniture leather and cut it into strips. Then added buttons.
the pleats on the skirt and the sheath for the sword on her ankle were both also my own design. Made them out of the same leather.

 Hope you all like!
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / 2010 Ongoing Gift-along!-CLOSED 1230/10-contact moderator to re-open on: September 19, 2010 12:27:31 AM
So I realized one day how many gifts I've been making for people. I also realized that they are not all made the same (crochet, scrapbook, etc). So I thought to start a craft-along here. Now presenting the

2010 Gift-along!

A place where we can share our gifts we are making/have made for others.

Here are my lists.

Making:
A Christmas apron for my mother "Mrs. Christmas"
I baby crib hangie for my friends baby, Evela
A crocheted blanket for my niece, Layla

Plan to make:
A crocheted blanket for Evela

Made:
Duct tape tie for my Dad's birthday

That;s all I can think of at the moment. I'll add more as I go. I'll also add pictures when I am done (and learn how).

Happy Crafting!
10  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / I'm so frustrated! on: September 19, 2010 12:12:34 AM
I've got a singer merritt 4530. Yes, it is old, but I haven't used it all that much. I was sewing something and did part of it. Went to do the second piece and the thread keeps breaking off. I figured maybe my needle was broken and needs to be changed. So I went to take off the needle and accidentally dropped it. It fell under the feeders and I can't get to it. Is it ok to take off the feeders? Or should I try something else? Please help!
