11  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / ***I'm stumped!!*** Help!!! (Rebecca No. 30) on: September 07, 2005 07:53:14 AM
Do any of you ever make sweaters from Rebecca magazine??  I absolutely love their sweaters, but the patterns leave much to be desired!  I'm trying to work on sweater # 33 from No. 30 and I don't understand one of the abbreviations in the chart.  It is an upsidedown triangle in the corner and the abbreviation is "and".  All the others make sense (K1, YO, K2 tog, etc...) but this one takes up one stitch and it just says "and".  Any ideas?Huh

Thanks, Angi
12  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Marriage announcement "We got hitched" ideas... on: July 21, 2005 07:18:39 PM
I'm getting married next weekend, and I am going to send out announcements to family and friends.  I am having a VERY small ceremony (4 people), but my dress and hair and everything will be kindov Audry Hepburn vintage style.  I would like the announcements to go along with that theme.  Can anyone think of a way to say "Hey, we got married" without saying we got married or hitched?  Maybe a neat quote from someone...  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

13  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Bizarro question! RE: Sin City on: June 29, 2005 08:47:48 AM
Help!!  Please!!  My boyfriend and I are getting married (after dating for 14 years!) and I wanted to embroider him something neat.  I was thinking of embroidering a "comic book strip" type thing about love.  I'm looking for something Frank Milleresque (Sin City).  Are there any graphic novel junkies out there who could point me to a good one?  I know, weird question, but I thought I'd try:-)

14  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Dirty fangers! on: June 11, 2005 06:03:14 AM
I am just finishing up Jenny Hart's Banner for my friend who just got married.  But, I'm noticing a couple of dirty spots on it (the piece is white).  Have any of you ever had that happen when you've been working on a piece for a long time?  What do you do?  Do you have a special way to clean them?  Spot clean them?  Also, do you know if the dye in the floss is stable?  Thanks muchly!
15  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Unraveling a Goodwill sweater for yarn on: May 04, 2005 08:04:20 AM
I know that a lot of you thrifty ladies out there reuse wool that you get from cheap sweaters from Goodwill.  This may seem like a stupid question, but is there a way to start taking the sweater apart that saves as much of the wool as possible?  Like do you cut off the collar and just start unwinding from there?  What do you do with the sleeves?  I hope this question isn't too silly.

Thanks!

This is my first time posting.  I'm trying to put in a picture and I'm not having much luck!  Hopefully, this time it'll work.  I had fun knitting this project.  Very easy with great directions!

17  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re-creating an old dress? on: February 18, 2005 04:45:30 AM
This is my first time posting, and I've only been sewing for a VERY short time. I bought this great old (very simple) dress at the Garment District.  Unfortunately, it is so old that the fabric is knubby and practically see-through.  I would love to buy some new fabric and make a new one using this old one as a pattern.  Do any of you have any advice?Huh?  Thanks muchly.
